Title fee to transfer to your name is $100.00 in Fla. weather its from a dealer or a private party. Another $60.00+ to register + tag. That was my surprise when I registered my scooter. Dock fee is just another way to take your $. When buying any vehicle I have always asked for the out the door price. I don't want to know list or sales price. Whats it cost to take it home.

I would think DOC fees are the Documentation fees. MCO, Registration, Title ETC.... Then again they may charge for the actual DOCK unloading, lift gate ETC... You said a Department store right? They will charge for everything Imaginable and make up some fees to make a Buck. Does it have a decent Warranty??? Not just parts but Labor for at least 6months 1200 for a 50cc??? Thats way to much IMO Unless It's a Vespa, Buddy or other higher end scoot. If it's Chinese Look some place else.

That's an administration fee that dealers are NOW allowed to charge if they process the title, regstration and tag, whether it be New or Used (now has to be done by a dealer in Fla.). This was something our lustrious Legislatue voted on last year, so the $199.00 fee is legit. Some other states have this implemented, so don't be surprised to see this fee arrive in your state.
Ur lucky.........mine was $256.00 .......and at that........used:(

Run fast. A scooter from a dept store? Probably very low end China scoot. You can get much better quality, with a good warranty from of the Scoot Dawg approved dealers on this site. There is a range of quality to select from as well as models and performance. We have a 4 st 50cc for $899 delivered before Scoot Dawg discount that does about 35mph and we go all the way up to $1599 for a CPI Oliver made in Taiwan 2 st that does about 50mph. Many other dealers on this site offer similar choices. Be happy to talk to you further about scoots. John Dikov 203-500-0960

I retail VIP 50cc's for about 799 with a 2 yr warranty. You can do better.
The title and registration fee's seem legit. It's 160 here in florida.
Take lefty's advice and run from that one

There may be an ordinance in Fla that if you buy new from a dealers brick and mortar store that they must register. The brick and mortar dealer... MAY...charge a doc fee. From what I have seen dealers take all the registrations from a couple weeks to a month and do them all at once. The gopher employee that goes to the dmv will not even be capable of checking if the registrations are done right. If you mail order.... it should not preclude you from registering the scooter yourself. Unless FLA has a really screwy law. Last time I bought new in Tx the doc fee for the labor of registering was a maximum of $50.

Usually when you order a scooter onine they are just sending you the MSO or MCO.
This lovely piece of paper must be used in the state of FLA to APPLY for a title in your name.
I don't see how the Dealer is capable of doing this from out of state without special privilages.
If they are charging you all that money just to send you an MSO with the bike then they are ripping you off.
I would get more information on what the DOC fee covers. What particular paperwork are they going to be providing.
I would then try and contact a FLA DMV office and ask them if an out of state dealership is capable of doing that. Even tho fl dmv offices are just good for jokes around here.

I'm from Florida, currently in Connecticut in the Navy and was doing a ton of reading on Florida's rules and whatnot because I'm trying to get a scooter and my motorcycle endorsement at the same time. I don't believe Florida requires <50cc scooters to be registered so the Doc fee may be BS that they're just trying to push. Either way you can always just tell them you'll pay $850 out the door and see what they say. Worse case scenario you walk out and buy a used one for cheaper that's already titled.

Scooters less than 50cc DO require a tag and registration in the state of Florida.
A motorcycle endorsement is not required. Proof of insurance is not required.
