I use my leather jacket when highway riding. It is safer than clothe material. I also have leather gloves, steel toe boots and blue jeans.. What do you all wear? Attachments:

Leather may provide more scrape resistance than other materials......but when you add armor to the setup, the jacket becomes very heavy, and will over-heat you something fierce in the hot summer temperatures (when most of our riding occurs). What that means.....you won't be wearing the thing as often as you should. My solution is a mesh jacket (two actually) with light-weight armor for summer riding......it can be comfortably worn when it gets hot out. When it gets cold out......the game changes.

My leather jacket has zippers on the sleaves to provide air flow when riding at highway speeds. So I stay cool in hot weather. I painted jacket to add color to it, so drivers would slow down to read it. A safety factor. But it is insulated for hot or cold weather. That is why you see bikers where black leather in the summer. No..Flip flops are about like going barefooted. If you have a accident, your flip flops offer no protection. Shorts are o.k., on a 49cc or in town riding, but to dangerous for highway travel. You will get skinned up if crash in shorts. My son kept riding his 49cc scooter barefooted and crashed one day. He scraped his feets and legs up. It is not recommended, but we all do foolish things every once in a while. I never went barefooted no flip flops, but have worn shorts while riding in a small town. It is not recommended, because one can hit loose gravel or worse at anytime.
