So I'm still doing research on bikes. I like this style, and as you might guess, my cash flow is not flowing, it's barely a dribble. So I have to be careful and conservative in my spending. I've heard that BMS is the best Chinese scooter, but what about Roketa? Have you had good luck with them? I went on the chat room at Superior Power Sports and they said this was a 2009 or 2010. And I have to say they are good about answering questions and are friendly. www.superiorpowersports.com/150cc_Gas_Scooter_p/rx150sc-16s.htm

If after all the research you say you've done, you still want to go with Superior and Roketa/BMS....I say Go for it! What's the worst that could happen?

The worst is I could waste $1,000! I've read a lot and done that kind of research, I just am looking for first had experience with Roketa. If I could I'd travel the 500 miles to my nearest Vespa dealer and buy a $5,000 bike, but, that's not going to happen! So, it's the cheap Chinese scooter for me!

As you look at the prices, make sure you know if the shipping is included, or another 200 - 300 dollars added for shipping from where you buy it from. Also, reserve some money for use tax, title fees, license plate, and insurance.

Just so you know that there are MANY MANY MANY Roketa scoots out there, all you should hope for is that the one that gets delivered to your house has been put together with some care and not a LATE FRIDAY build. Lefty

I had a 150cc Roketa. It treated me well for 6000 miles over 2-3 years. It died the day the dipstick plug came out and let the oil spit out on a 50 mile trip. It died making unfortunate noises.
Any one know of a cheap source of long case gy6 motors?

GY6 motors are very common and can be had from many dealers and at many different prices, just google for it, then you can pick your poison. Lefty.

Do you suppose the LATE FRIDAY build goes for all the Chinese scooters?

And yeah, shipping is usually not included...but I guess you have to pick and choose...low price plus shipping vs higher price shipping included...it seems to all come out th same inthe end.

I had a 50cc Roketa, often referred to as pony style, 2008. Aside from the plastics being a bit brittle, it was a good looking scoot with nice paint and mechanically sound.

Roketas are pretty good actually and they have been around for quite a while. ROKETA actually is a CM(CONTRACT MANUFACTURER) they do not build the scoots but have a china factory build them to their specifications. So they usually are a little better than your unknown brands. Lefty

I have a 2006 Roketa Sicily 150cc and it has been amazing. I ordered mine from Extreme Scooters and it arrived pretty quick. I did not originally change the oil or do any extras that I have seen as suggestions, just started from the box and away I went. I just pulled it out of a 2 year storage hiatus and am in the process of replacing things (fuel filter, flasher relay, new battery, gas floater, fuel/vacuum lines, etc) because I want it to perform the best, not because it has had any problems. I would definitely order a Roketa again.

ok, thanks, I feel better about order a roketa then. Another dawg had mentioned that a 150 under $1000 might not be very good. But this makes me feel more confident. The price doesn't include shipping, but I like the idea of them doing a pdi, even if it isn't a complete one, it's a start, especially if they charge the battery for me.

I have a Roketa on a Trike have not had it long however, have had no issues. No someone that has a lot of them. He told me before I bought mine. MAKE SURE YOU PDI RIGHT. Check it over make sure nuts, bolts are tight. Change the oil, gear box etc when your supposed to. And, should not have any concerns. I've done just that and have had NO concerns! By the way I bought mian from Scooter Dynasty and had no concerns there either. Shipped fast. And, the fee for shipp was encluded in the price. Here's a link www.scooterdynasty.com/index.aspx Tell Vince Mark from Philly said hello!

Roketa= A-OK! Just got an mc 72 from an ebay vendor friday. So far it seems to be pretty decent. 150 cc. I changed the fluids, charged the battery, inspected and rerouted some lines, tightened some bolts, and it was good to go. Gas tanked squeaked of all things but some padding between it and the frame solved that. for $790 how could I go wrong. And I just checked a Honda ad: $4500 for their 150 scoot! I had a tank 50 last year and my son bought a chinese milano 150 last year. Those two scoots proved to me that the china scoots were not bad at all. And this most recent purchase so far at least seems to suggest the same. I am no genius with a wrench, but I have tweaked my lawn mower and outboards for years (oil changes, and basic stuff) so these scoots have not been much of a jump for me. Oh yea I use sea foam, stp gas treatment (1 cap of each per tank) and high test. NO gas or carb issues yet with any of these machines.

I think China scooters get a bad rap. Some manufacturers produce decent bikes. We only hear about the problems on this site, not necessarily the thousands of other fully satisfied customers.
After first joining this site last year after buying a Peace Sports 50 I was horrified about all the stories about these scooters. Turns out that all the parts are quality parts, maybe not as nice as Honda parts, but then it's a cheap uncomplicated design. The ONLY issues I have had with my Peace Sports 50 have been ones that I have created. I don't think there was anything that broke on its own, except a few cracks in the body panels.

How would you rate the Roketa against the Fly scooters......specifically the Il Bello against the Carpi?

Just picked up my wife's Roketa mc75 150 for $780 and that included shipping. Had some slight issues but it wasn't the bikes fault...a small splinter in the carb caused it to flood. Now its running great. Thanks again, Lefty!

I found a youtube video a few days ago and in it the man talking in it said it was misspelled. It's supposed to be Capri! So it was funny when I saw the post. No offense was intended.

I wish there was a dealer close, there's nothing. I'm kind of forced to buy online. But I'm going with superiorpowersports.com. And the Roketa. I just have to get the money together!

Some people call it Crapi... Those people are ususally anti-chinoscoot and are elitist with Yamaha or Honda or even Vespa.

Though I really dont recommend ppl to the Scooter depot because of there poor business. I did however buy a nice ride for around $800! Tax, title ect... Just dont expect them to fix anything with in the yr or 6 months of your warranty. I have whats called an Eagle or Hunter, Racer lol theres many more. But it is basiclly a Rocketta. Same parts same gy6 150. only dif is price. The same bike is sold here as a rocketta for $1400. thats double what I paid. Actually the bike I bought was only $515 + 240 somthing for shipping. But Like I said just dont expect anything from them after your sale is final. Good Luck>

thanks speedometer! Yeah, I haven't heard really good things about scooter depot. And for what it's worth, superiorpowersport.com at least does some kind of PDI. At least they open the box, assemble it, and if anything is broken, it will get fixed before you get it. At least here are better odds. It will be awhile, though. So far I only have $110 saved up!
