Today, I am in New Mexico, Already been to Arizona, Turned around because bad road. Yesterday I left Taos NM. And rode 200 miles. Scoot is doing well. I also ran off the road at 40 MPH. That was not fun. Too much enjoying and looking around to see curve ahead! I kept it up rite, And just rode it out with light brakeing. Well I gotta go Comp. Batt is DEAD Talk soon. Attachments:

Hey newguy!!! Glad you and the scoot weren't hurt. Watch out for those curves. They account for almost all one vehicle accidents. Good luck on the rest of todays ride.

Northern NM is my playground. I love riding in that area. Still snow on the peaks. We had a storm up there at the end of Turkey season ( May 10 ) and barely got out. We got lots of fresh snow.
I wish I could have hooked up with you and did a ride out with you. Oh well, next time.
Where was that pic taken.

Hi All I am in Sho-Low Arizzzzzzzzona The weather is the worst I have seen on this trip. 50+ MPH wind has blown me off the road 3 times. I get it up to 15 MPH. Get blown off the road. Traffic is very light. Hit rain about 15 miles from here. Now sitting at Mc Donnald's haveing coffee, And TRYING to dry out. Had really violent shivering from cold. I can't believe this is Arizzzzzzzzzzzzzona in the middle of May! It should be 80+. Now 40. Went 15 miles burned a 1/2 tank of gas, Because of the wind. I think it's warmer in Wyoming than it is here. Bike is running well. OHHH! Look! Is that SUN I see? Nahh, It went away. Was planning to be in Black Canyon City by tomorrow, Not going to happen. The picture above was taken in Colorado, Just west of Walsenburg. Some sort of mill. Will post more pictures later, When I am warmer, And in better spirit's. Good Bye for now.

So sorry to hear you are wet and cold. It has been raining here for over a week. Haven't ridden either the Mod Quad or Silvano in quite a while.
Were you able to find a campground, get into dry clothes and warm up? I usually give up riding in the rain if I can. When I was riding home from Maine last summer, I couldn't find a hotel for about 25 miles and had to just keep going in the rain and hail. Was really glad to finally find a place. It had begun to pour!!

I am in Black canyon city. Scooter made it fine. Had to treade my laptop for a room when I got caught in a snow storm up past Payson AZ. Have been here for about 4 days now. I also lost a bag that had my clothes in it. So I am sitting here in the clothes I have been wearing for the last 7 days. Be glad to get out of these. My last paycheck should hit the bank today..

I have an aunt and uncle in Payson. If worst comes to worst, let me know. They would probably help out. One stipulation. You gotta chew tobacco and drink Pabst Blue Ribbon. They are of the Okie persuassion, if you get my drift.

Hi newguy,
So sorry to hear about your troubles. Having to trade the laptop for a room is the pitts, but losing your bag is even worse. Last summer I was lucky my husband was riding behind me. Saved me from losing my bag. I have worked out a way to reconfigure my bags for my trip out to MI, so hopefully, I won't loose a bag on the trip. What state is Black Canyon City in? (We easterners don't always know about those out west places).

But all-in-all The scooter has held up well. I almost fried the clutch in Newmexico because I never changed the gear oil that resides there....OOOPS! It started slipping! So warning to you all...KEEP FRESH OIL IN THERE. Or you will wish you did. I changed it Blacker than a catfish in mud, On the side of the hi-way in newmexico, Never heard from it again! Simple as fried green tomatoes. Took 10 min. So easey, A human can do it!

newguy, Are you back on the road again or still in Arizona? Where is your next port of call? Did you have access to your paycheck?
Your post about money made me do some checking with my credit union. I found that they have business partners in many parts of the country. If I need money and am near one of their partners, I won't have to pay ATM fees. I'm pleased about that. Don't want to be carrying much cash with me on the scoot. Don't want to lose it or leave it laying around a motel room.
I need to remember to contact my local shop and order new tires for the Mod Quad and have them give it a complete mechanical check up. My husband keeps making remarks like, "You must have lots of money. That is an '08 scoot, tires are fine." But they have over 4000 miles on them and I will put over 2000 miles on them on my trip. I don't want to have a flat tire or blow out. So I would rather replace the tire now than get stuck with it in the middle of nowhere.

I am still in Arizona. Will be for a while. I sold a motorhome to a buddie about 5 years ago, And am going to buy it back! He only put 3,000 miles on it. Ireally missed that old coach. Well she's mine again! Still has the bike rack on it, So skewt will fit right in. It's a 77 Dodge 22' Mobile Travler. So Skewt can have a MUCH deserved break, And be carried instead of carrying me. Will post a pic later

Glad to hear you are ok. Having a motor home is really nice. I used to have a big old motorhome and I really enjoyed it. But it got too old and had too many miles on it. I'm sure the scoot will enjoy a ride home too.

howdy, ain't adventure wonderful? been there done that. have started on trips then had to get a temp job to get the resource to continue. but---that's for the young -or young at heart. i just don't have it anymore. i was in alaska last week and up from skagway and up the white pass railway, then over through carcrosse to nearly white horse. i'd love to just hop on my scoot and go up 97 then over and catch that road back to skagway. the piaggio has the range between fill-ups to make it. when ya do that , ya have to watch for bear jams on the road. that's where everyone stops to watch the bear and the road is jammed up.--lotsa miles and smiles to ya

Made Wickenburg AZ that afternoon. Then out hiway 60 to 72 toParker AZ whereI am now. Bought a netbook in Prescott, So I can post on progress again. Today I was headed up the CA. side of hiway 95, and the drive belt let loose. Stuck for 6 HRS. in 113 deg heat. Could not even get to the damnd river. The place I broke down at wanted $35.00 to go swimming!!!! in the Colorado river? I mean, COME ON! It's friggen broiling out here! No dice. I took the side cover off to make sure it was the belt, And not the clutch or variator. Bike is hidden in the bushes till monday when I can get a new belt.
