Since the weather looks "iffy" tomorrow, we took a nice Mother's Day ride today out to Campbells Bridge, which is the last remaining covered bridge in the state. It's a pretty little park about 30 miles from us.
We got there before the crowds began to arrive and had a perfect little picnic in the shade while sitting in front of the bridge, listening to the sounds of the stream and smelling the honeysuckle.
We love historical sites and think this will be one of our favorite picnic places.
I did it as a surprise and she loved it. We had looked for this bridge before by following the signs, but apparently one of them is so small that we missed it - several times. After looking it up online, I (tried to) memorize the directions and made a right when I should have made a left. So, we had a little detour down a very narrow gravel/dirt road first (boy, was she surprised!) before circling back and going LEFT. My memory isn't what it used to be, but she still loves me for the thought...
