Hi Today about 11:00AM I hit the road, Cali Bound! Now I am in FT. Collins, Colorado. Took all day to get here. Had to fight some really nasty wind 30+, Scooter loaded down, And 65 MPH traffic. I started down County Road 14, Traffic & wind too heavy, So I back-tracked to road 100 And took that. Light traffic But a heavy head wind all the way. Found out my gas gauge is REALLY outa whack. Drove the first 30 miles, It was on empty. Had 8 miles to go to get to a gas station, Took 1/2 gallon to fill it. Got something to eat before backtracking. Scoot is running fine, But has a strange viberation, that is repeating, Comes on every 2 seconds. Can't figure out exactly where it's comming from. Will have to go south because I can't find a was thru the rockies that has services (gas) but every 75-100 miles (too far) So I'll be forced south. Stopped at the Colorado welcome center and disussed in detail where the gas stations are. So I will write more later. This will be an on-going post with pictures.

Reckon this vibration & fuel gauge issues stems from the damage from the bike falling over, leaking gas at the DMV the other day? I think I'd turn back home and postpone the trip from WY to CA until I had the issues found and fixed.

In context . . new scooter with an unfamiliar rider. Really "playing the odds" on this adventure!

Being you are already on your way it maybe to late to do, but if you get, or use a GPS, that will take care of your speedo problem. For the gas tank issue, I'd figure out a baseline for your MPG, and then use trip odometer, or map the estimated distances and plan fuel stops. I use the trip odo on my scooter more than the actual fuel gauge for time to empty and refuel. But if you are hitting bad headwinds and hill climbing the mileage will suffer alot. We usually get 60+ mpg when we tour on our scooters, but we have had some rough days with winds and hills where we got 50mpg. Carry a gas can with you, even a 1-2 gallon one would be plenty to get you though some dry areas.

I got into down town Denver this morning, The side stand broke. I mean OFF. It was only welded 1/2 way around. So I have to (will) have to carry a block of wood to get it in the center stand. All loaded down, No way I can get it up there myself. Put about 100 miles on TRYING to get out of denver. Got on 1 road it put me on the FREEWAY in the left lane! 35 MPH NOT healthy at all. That was my shock for today. Was not clearly marked, I thought I was getting off an expressway. No Straight to the interstate! I am going to change oil, And gearbox oil tonight.

Today, I had it easy. Was a beautiful day, 80 degrees But a little windy. I saw a forest for the first time in several months. I was able to take it easy and really enjoy some really pretty country. The road I was on is Colorado 105. Lot's of bikers and bicycles. When I started seeing Bicycles I knew it would be a good day. Was able to cruise at 30-35. Even the cagers were slow. Am now in Colorado Springs, Looking to get outta here tonight. Bike is running very well, No problems scince the damn kickstand fell off yesterday. It's really hard to park, Because I have to lean the bike up against something, Chock both wheels, (And Pray) it don't fall over! Will write about the camels I saw today and post proof. I know! Camels in Colorado? Yes There ARE camels in Colorado! First time I have been so close to these lovely creatures. I know they can spit like 20 ft. But they just wanted a handout.

Today I left Colo. springs @ 11:00 Got stuck all day trying to figure a route. It took 2 tanks of gas, 180 miles of travel to go 30 miles. Yeah, A little lost there. The second tank went REALLY fast Because I forgot to put gas cap back on!! Only got about 40 miles out of that tank. I finaly went back to colorado springs and went to McDonnald's to find the road I was searching for. Googled it for an hour! Got into Pueblo Colorado at about 9:00 PM. Had to ride on a dirt road for about 15 miles. Not any fun at all. Now I am at McDonnald's in Pueblo. Think I'll find a bed for the night. It's the end of day 4.

YA! Just HANG ON AND STOMP THE HELL OUT OF IT! I am finally getting the hang of using the centerstand. Takes about 100 pounds of downward pressure to get the bike up on it. Today it rained all day, Had to lay over in Walsenburg colorado. Bummer. Hey, I got a question: Can humidity cause hard starting? This morning I went to start scoot, It was kinda hard. It started, But was hard to keep it running, Till it warmed up a bit. Any ideas? Need a new sparkie?
