Good Morning Everyone, I am moving to Key West, FL from Boynton Beach, FL and I got the bright idea to drive my scooter down rather then rent a truck and transport it. I took a new job with a former boss who is helping me to escape the worst boss I have ever had. I gave my my boss a three weeks notice and they would not give me my vacation pay and now it appears they are trying to screw me out of my bonus that was due yesterday on my last day. So due to cost reasons I planned on taking My Motofino MF150QT down the blue highways to Key West. I got the idea from a great article on here called Key West or Bust. This guy drove down to Key West from West Palm, FL and back. My hats off to him because I do not think I could have made it another 15 minutes of riding. I left Boynton Beach, FL at 8:20PM after my last day of work at my former job to clear my head. I took 441 South and it moved pretty good till I got to Margate, FL then I was on traffic light after another. Took a right on Griffin Rd. West and that moved real well. I turned south on Route 27 and I caught Krome Rd south to Homestead, FL. and that was a good ride but very dark. It was moving real well till some trucks got in front of me just south of the casino but they eventually turned. I caught US 1 in Florida City, FL and finally the water was on either side of me. I had to stop frequently because it was late at night and my gas tank holds just over a gallon. I know I should not have done this but I called a spare 1 gallon gas can wrapped in a plastic bag in my helmet trunk. I finally had to start drinking some coffee I had brought in a thermos just after midnight and that allowed the air cooled scooter to cool down. Then Murphy's law set in as they said there was only a 10% chance of ran and it rained on me five different times but never too heavy. By the time I reached Marathon, FL I was dead tired at 2:15 AM. I got gas for the last time just before the seven mile bridge and drank the last two cups of coffee I had. I had a little trouble starting the scoot but she finally started. The rain started again a little harder near Pine Key, FL and I did not see any Key Deer. I finally made it to my new place at like 3:20AM and I was wiped out. My land lady was nice enough to have put some food, water, and a couple of beers in my fridge. She is a God send as I only got 1.5 hours of sleep then she drove me to the bus terminal for the ride back so I can move Monday. All told I think I covered just over 220 miles and used $14 of gas. Took about seven hours with frequent stops for me and the scoot. I went to the bus terminal and Murphy's law again as the bus broke down and they are having to send another one from Miami, FL. That will take three hours so I called my boss to see if he knew another way to get back and he said your luck is changing I have someone who can drive you to Ft. Lauderdale in about 1.5 hours. I received my refund from the bus company and I am waiting to go back home know. Overall I would do it again but I think I will buy a pick up truck to transport the scoot. I may just sell this scoot in a year and have a new one shipped down to me. Even with everything that happened it was great to just lay down by the airport in the sun and be able to see the water.
