On the way home from work today I noticed a 'grinding' or 'rattling' sound coming from the rear wheel area of my Tank 150 Racer. I placed it on the center stand and revved it a few times and could not pinpoint the location. The wheel spins freely by hand. Any thoughts on what the noise might be?

Check your exhaust bolts and the header nuts, but it's probably the muffler baffles ar broken loose. tankgunner,
I heard the same noise with my Tank 150, tore the transmission apart but couldn't find a thing wrong. I just came to the conlcusion that the thing made noise.
Take Stan's suggestions as fact though, the dude knows what he is talking about!

Found the problem! While going over the entire scooter with my torque wrench I found that one of the welds where the rear bracket attaches to the bottom of the muffler had broken loose. This was causing the rattling I heard. Note:Over half of the nuts and bolts needed to be re-torqued. ;D

Yup. Those exhaust systems are crapola. Poor steel quality and poorly designed as a one piece exhaust. Weld up the cracks and keep it going as long as possible, but ultimately the exhaust will have to go. Stan Found the problem!
