Going over my scoot this weekend (just cleared 1000km) & noticed one of the chrome muffler bands that hold up the muffler was busted (cracked off at the attachment point). The other one seems to be fine for now & I used some "thin" metal strapping to rig up a temporary replacement for the broken one.
I'll contact my dealer to order a replacement OEM bands, but if the original broke, then the replacements probably won't be too good. I've got some thick metal strapping that I could probably bend to make some new ones (& I'm sure they'll be stronger than the originals), but I really don't want to fabricate something.
Does anyone sell replacement muffler bands. I checked Stan's website, but didn't see them, only entire muffler kits. I just need the metal bands......any ideas?

Why not a big old screw to tighten stainless steel pipe clamp. I know they come that big and if you put the screw part on the inside it wouldn't be to ugly.

Thanks everybody! I appreciate the ideas & links. I contacted my dealer today & he's going to order a couple of replacements for me. In the meantime, the metal strapping is holding up well & the looks are starting to grow on me (LOL). I'm thinking about replacing the remaining good strap with metal strapping also, so they will match. Like I mentioned before, the metal strapping will probably outlast the cheapo bands anyways. My custom straps set me back 79 cents at the hardware store and I've got enough to probably make 10 straps! Hmmmmm......maybe I can start selling my "custom redneck" straps on Stan's website! (LOL)

Both of mine broke also. I got new ones and figured they'd break in the same place too. I took water heater strapping (plumber's tape) and bent it the same shape as the bend in the stock strap with the hole for the bolt. I then jb weld'd onto the stock strap. I don't think it's going to break as easily now.

Dang-It! Crappitolla! Sheep Dip! The "red-neck" muffler band I fabricated broke this morning..... I'm about ready to guy buy a welder & weld that sucker directly to the bracket! I'm gonna have to doouble-up on the "red-neck" brackets & hope my replacements come in soon so I can make some modifications like Baldguy! I feel better now....just needed to vent a little!
