I just bought a Longbo Alien 150cc and changed the oil (non-syn. Castrol 10w40 in it at 100 miles (not km) as the dealer told me. I filled it up to the top X on the dipstick as the dealer specified. I ran the bike for 2 min. than let it sit and checked the level again. The level was right at the top X without screwing it in. I drove it for the next week around town and had no problems until yesterday I took it to the next town over which was 5 miles away. I ran it around 50 mph. When I got home I had oil under the drive and back tire. It looked like it was coming from the drip tube near the kickstand. I had almost no reading on the dipstick but the engine seemed fine. I drained the oil and replaced it with Royal Purple 20w50 high performance synthetic oil but only filled it half way up the dipstick this time. I drove it about 2 miles down the road at 50 mph and back and it did leak some but didn't seem to be as bad. Checked the oil and it was low again. I then filled it up again a little past half way up the dipstick and this time when I ran it, it leaked a little worse but not down as low. This is driving me crazy, I've spent the last two days messing with this thing. I'm just wondering if it is going to blow out oil until it reaches a certain level and will stop and still be safe. When the break-in oil was in it, it didn't have this problem even though the level was higher yet I didn't run it as hard either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It should be at the top of the hatched mark when screwed in. Sounds like you have it over filled. Either always check it when screwed in or figure out a conversion level that is equal. Check and make sure you have the gasket around the dipstick in place.

There's a rubber o-ring around the oil dipstick right under the screw top. It occassionally goes absent after oil changes. It also sounds like there is way too much oil. Since it may take 30 minutes for all the oil to drip down from the engine after a run, and some remains in the oil filter area etc. usually midway on the dipstick is fine. You still have to check the oil frequently.

OK, so with the bike on the center stand with the front wheel down, and given at least 15 mins. or so for the oil to drain down, the dipstick should read at the top or middle when screwed in? Whew! Oh, and the gasket is still there!

Just make sure the level is within the hatched area under the conditions you described. I stay anywhere from the middle to upper edge, but never more. Well, I just drained and filled and added 24oz as the dealer said to start with. It just barely measured on the tip of the stick. I added another ounce then drove it and let it sit for about 20 mins. The level is now right below the top of XXXXX when screwed in. So now I have approx. 25oz in it. Sound ok?

Run it for a day or so and keep checking it. If it stays there and the external oiling is under control, stick with that amount. If you are still blowing oil, you have a blowby problem and you will need to contact your dealer. Stan Well, I just drained and filled and added 24oz as the dealer said to start with. Ok, go ahead and shoot me. When I came home this evening and checked the oil level after the bike sat up all night. The level was about 3/4 way up the stick screwed in. I took a ride about 10 miles round trip and took it easy (not over 45 mph). When I got home and checked the oil, it didn't even show on the stick even screwed in. I looked for evidence of the oil blowing out of the overflow tube and it looked like it only had barely any come out. There was no oil blown back on the drive or rear wheel. So what's the deal? Did I not fill it up enough (25oz) and had to be run to show it. How much oil does the G6Y 150cc engine normally take?... Went back outside topped it off again with another ounce (26oz total) and went for a 5 mile ride. Got back, no oil on dipstick, maybe a drip of oil at the most from the tube, no blow back and not smoking! Where is the oil going? One mechanic I called said they put a quart in the Chinese scooters they service.

lashk,
This may be a stupid question but are you sure you are checking the oil level on level ground with the scoot on the center stand? One time I forgot the scooter was on the side stand and the oil level was not showing on any of the x's.

Yes, it is level and on center stand. After I got your reply I went outside and checked the level again and it was about 2/3's up the dipstick screwed in. I guess I didn't give it long enough to drain down. So, I guess my bike takes about 26-27oz to fill.

That doesn't sound like the right amount. Are you sure all the old oil was out when you drained it? There is a plug on both sides of the 150's. The 250 has a drain at the low point and the screen is slightly higher. Stan Yes, it is level and on center stand. I drained only the plug with the screen. Does this sound like too much or too little oil? how much should it take? I saw some atv's with the same engine on the net that said the capacity is .9 liters.

Actually, I should withdraw that. In litres .9 is equal to 30.4 oz and most often it takes just slitly more than 3/4 of a quart (3/4 qt is 24 oz) so if you are at 26 or 27 oz that sounds right. I never measure it. I just use the dip stick. I saw someone post that it took 36 oz, but if you do the conversion, that's way too much. Sorry for the confusion, I should have done the conversion first. Bad Dawg! Stan I drained only the plug with the screen. Does this sound like too much or too little oil? how much should it take?
