Just bought a used Touring 150 and thought it would be an easy fix....Crap!!! No spark, and I have verified the Coil, CDI, and spark plug are good by running them on my other Sporty I50. Not sure where to go next but frustration is setting in. Not sure if it matters but the remote start function does not turn the motor over either. I didn't know if maybe the Alarm module starter function being bad is somehow killing the spark. Sure would appreciate some suggestions on further troubleshooting. Thanks

Have you tried disconnecting the alarm module entirely? Unfortunately, you have to remove the front fairing to do that.

Obviously if the parts work in your other one, you have ashort someplace else, check all connections and wires for continuity.

This is the same problem I am having with the Tank 250, as many know by now. Electricals are the hardest to track down if it's not one of the obvious fixes. A short somewhere can be difficult to find. Good luck......and welcome member #200!

Have you checked the fuses? Does the motor turn over at all?. Does the bike have an antitheft lock out that has not reset?
I am assuming that since you removed the coil to the spark that no power was getting to the spark and therefore the engine wasn't turning over. Is there any power to anything or is the battery dead or dying?

Thanks Quick guess is that the battery in your remote is dead or someone already disconnected it. Second, your magneto is probably bad.

www.funtimescooter.com/Challenger_Assembly.htmFollow down to "kill switch" This is something I ran across the other day. I don't know if it is a misprint or something new. It shows the kill switch as part of the headlight switch. Is it possible that this is the key to the mistery of the Tank with no spark??? Or am I just behind the curve on these things, and everyone else already knows about it?

Not to sound stupid, but you are getting fuel right? Everyone is talking spark, so I figured I would go another direction. Spray a little carb cleaner into the carb while you are crankin it over. If she fires a little you have a fuel issue. My retarded rant is complete.......LOL

How about kickstand kill switch, both my scoots (old and new) have had a kill switch on the side stand (not on the center stand).
Maybe bad switch not allowing complete circuit.

Mr. Al, With all that Dawg has had on his plate, anything is possible. If not, I guess that when he is feeling 100% the meter and wiring diagram are going to have to come out.

Talk about blood, sweat, and beers... After un-plugging the alarm module, could not find any loose wires that would reconnect as in male/female. Still no spark. Ripped off all the plastic, took a multimeter and went about verifying continuity and voltage at various connectors. Found 4 or 5 wires throughout the harness where the wire was partially push back out of the plastic plug. This was looking promising. Still no spark. Swapped every ignition component off my sporty 150. All Touring 150 stuff worked fine on the Sporty. Did a google search for Thor Motorcycle alarms and found a sight where I could print out the wiring diagram of the alarm module. The single black/white wire I unplugged coming out of the ignition to the alarm module had no mate wire to plug back into on the main harness. Just before sending out invitations to the neighbors for my upcoming Chinese Bonfire, I cut the black white wire going into the plastic plug on the main harness and spliced it into the black white wire coming from the ignition switch. Eureka!!! spark, spark, and more spark.... Screwed the spark plug in, turned on the key, hit the starter and my happy ending had finally come to pass! Thanks for all the suggestions on this forum as they did help in eliminating some possibilites. Now....Just need to get enough energy to put all the plastic back on.......and I do me ALL THE PLASTIC...WHEW!!!

Wowser! I'm going to be looking for the wiring you are describing. It shouldn't be so that any scooter is shipped to a customer with such hard to find problems. I feel your pain on putting all the plastic back on. This 250 is in so many pieces I could open a hardware store.
