Hi all
Finally got my magnum and RapidJim u were right about that store -USELESS- My Better half ordered before i could say not to.
Anyway finally got most of the little bugs out but it has either a stutter or slippage when riding no rhyme or reason as to cause -- i can't make it do it but it does it all the time. it just burps in speed no noise or anything it goes into forward and reverse just fine so i don't think its that and just put first gas in 93 octane so i don't think its that do these have a tendency to do this when new maybe something slipping or sticking cause only have 3 miles on it now.
Well I'm not very experienced mechanic but will appreciate all replies for things to check or whatever.
Thanks Guys James

James: Check that the ignition coil wire is firmly seated on the spark plug. Also are ALL the oils changed to american oils? If not do that now before you ride anymore. Does it idle fine? Secondly check all the tubes coming off your carb and intake to make sure none have slipped off of a fitting.

Ur wrong chopper I've never had to change my gear box but I did lock out the reverse and I do not use it. Chinese reverse trikes seem to have this problem. Mike had to change his gear box out because the gears would slip in and out of reverse and forwqard. Do yourself a favor and lock out the reverse!

What I would do is lock the rear gear box all the way back into forward gear. Make sure the chain has just a tad of slack in it and check to see the sprockes line up GOOD for the chain. Also check the tires and rims as we all know they are not well made tires, out of round..

I bet your rear end gears r bad..they all are..ive changed mine as much as the oil! 1000 miles an 3 gear boxes First, the original post said that it goes into reverse and forward just fine. Second, I had talked to the customer on this problem and it was not a gear issue. Third, they are not all bad. In fact I have not seen many Magnums with rear problems that were not caused by the cable adjustment being off, chain having to much slack, shifting into reverse while moving forward or no gear oil. Of course some folks like to blame the machine instead of their mistakes. Granted, the 150's had issues years ago because they didn't put a support bearing in the case when they made them. That is not an issue anymore because they did away with reverse. I personally think they should have just added a bearing. That was a tranny issue not a rear diff issue. The new Magnums are a different design now. They moved the reverse. It now has a shifter on the side and it needs to be adjusted during the PDI. Failure to do this will result in gear grinding or jumping out of gear and if not corrected will shear the gears. Once again, properly setting up the machine before it is ever ridden will stop a problem. Now before we get into the argument that it should be ready to ride out of the box, I have not seen a machine yet that was. I don't care if you are talking about Japanese, Chinese, Vespa's or Harley's, every machine is dealer prepped BEFORE it is sold! By buying online you take on the responsibility of doing it yourself or having it done. If taking delivery from a B&M store, it is their responsibility to properly inspect it and set it up! Now I am not saying that a proper inspection/PDI will cure every issue, nor am I saying that the machine will never have an issue, nor am I saying there will never be a warranty issue. Every machine has issues otherwise mechanics and parts folks would be out of a job. Just sit down one day and goggle factory recalls, you will be amazed at how many there are, not to mention service bulletins. I am saying that it will prevent a lot of owner's issues. I still contend that the majority of bad mouthing Chinese machines, not all, stems from no Pre operation inspection/PDI and not performing period maintenance. Jim/Owner Rapid Repair

Well Jim my Magnum went into forward and reverse just fine too until about 140 miles then one day I stopped at a light and then no forward and no reverse. I went home and locked it out and I haven't had a problem since. It's a poor design and sloppy. I thought about adopting a lawnmower heavy duty spring to keep heavy tension on the forward reverse cable but it was easier to lock it out because the trike weighs literally nothing so I push it back. My front brake light switch never worked...replaced it. In addition within the first 40 miles I had to adjust the valves, air fuel ratio, The front wheel squeeked all the time. The coil was delivering poor spark after 80 miles. Locking out reverse, a new coil, new iridium plug, electric fuel pump new gas lines and new fuel filter, new tires, handle bar risers, a luggage rack and I'm finally happy with the reliability and performance.

Jim your right on...I know one one thing for sure, these Magnums are good trikes and like any from any company... you have to check and adjust tighten things.
I enjoy and ride the tires off mine. If the ever come out with a larger trike I'll have one in my garage. If anyone has had a hard time with things on a trike it was mine. Over time I got it right and LOVE it now.
