I stumbled across these while looking for a better alternative to a cable, since most disc locks won't fit my disc... www.grip-lock.com/Grip-Locks/I was wondering is anyone here has one and if they are any good...

I don't have one...but they look like they would work pretty well. I would be interested in buying one if the price was right. Please let me know if you find a place that sells them.

they are being sold on E-Bay for $59.25. That sounds a little expensive to me .

I have one. It stands out. Mine is yellow. It locks both the throttle and the front brake. I don't use it because I am lazy and my scooters are pretty heavy. ;D

hmmm i looked at the site and watched the vid of the angle grinder.... less than a min? doesnt sound like a very GOOD thing to advert. my disc brake alarm would have been screaming like hell already!
i got my disc brake alarm for pretty cheap, but i had to wait to come from china. WORTH THE WAIT it came with great lazer cut keys and they even threw in some neat little anodized dice valve stem caps!

I really wanted a Grip Lock until I saw the price. It is a good visual deturant to be used with another lock. I mean 2 guys and a truck could pick it up and have all the time in the world to get it off. I would still buy one if I could find a decent price. A disk lock works but, don't forget to take it off before leaving and the alarm can be quieted with a thumb over the speaker or a piece of tape. A good thick chain/cable ran thru the back rim and around a sign or other post is your best bet IMO. I use a bicycle U-lock thru the front rim as a cheap disk lock. Same result at half the cost. Then again, a Skateboard can fix that I also use a very thick gage cable thru the rear rim I picked up at Home Depot. Not a bike lock but a towing cable. weighs about 25lbs and only cost $14.95 and a good Boron Alloy Lock. Plus a cheap bicycle lock. Thats 3 layers of security for the price of one Grip Lock. I still want one though ;D ;D

uh why would you forget to take your disc brake lock off? what are you guys smoking i want some! and my alarm'd disc brake lock's speaker is actually in the disc brake channel, so you cannot cover it. its quite loud but im afraid at much distance it more sounds like chirping birds...

Oh I Dunno why would you try and start with the kill switch on??? It happens. No one is perfect. That's why they sell the reminder cable as an accessory with disk locks. For every good lock there is a cleaver way to bypass it. If someone wants to steal it, it gone!!! It's better to make your ride harder to get so a thief moves on. I still want a Grip Lock. Just wish I had the cash ;D Granted braided Bicycle cables are a joke and cost more. I had a locksmith that was curious where I got my cable. No shop sells them that thick and a cheap set of cutters would either dent the blade or break at the hinge. I tried.

the best deterrent against theft is a bike cover. thieves are unlikely to steal something when they don't know what they are getting. don't get me wrong, chains and all are great but a cover is still good. the problem with covers is the time required to cover your bike. the cover i use is the top portion of one of those "portable patios" that they sell at the dollar store.
