Okay here is the Meat of the story, if anyone has any ideas please feel free to shout at me.
I bought a SUN L 150 adventure, Nov. of Last year I was in need of a second form of transportation ( my old Van died have since bought new van ) and walked into a sooter dealership and worked a deal to purchase the scoot for $1500.00. It was still in the crate but they promised to have me on the road that day so I told my ridethey could leave and watched the service guy assemble it. He told me to break it in easy over at least 300 miles and then change the oil. Well I know for a FACT that once he assembled it and adjusted the idle, he never ran it down a road and pulled the plug to check it. It ran great for a coupke of days had to go back for small adjustments ( normal stuff Brakes etc ) but it started to sound rough ( almost like tiny rocks in the carb ) ( I know there weren't tiny rocks in the carb thats just what it sounded like ) I took it in and he said it was low on oil he added some then told me that " these things USE oil you have to check it everytime you ride " so I started doing so. about a week later it started acting funny on my ride home,
IMPORTANT NOTE : I was riding about 40 miles one way in the morning COLD WEATHER and 40 miles home in the afternoon Warm weather ( thats ARKANSAS for ya )
About half way home one day it was dying when I would throttle past half way. It would start back up but if I tried to get any real speed it would die. I was closer to the shop then home so I crawled it over to them. he checked the oil and said it was dry ( I had checked it before I left work and it was fine!!! ) he added oil it fixed the prob he said you are good to go. So I rode it home. When I pulled into my drive way and shut it down it started DROPPING oil like crazy HUGE MESS I though I had killed it. I called the shop and the service guys answer was "YOU BLEW THE ENGINE" and there was no way my warrenty was going to cover it. I said to him I brought it to you as soon as it was giving me problems YOU said it was good to go before I left. He got kinda quite and said tell ya what " I will come pick it up tonight and look at it at home you can pay me cash 50 bucks an hour and I will get you on the road.
I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW !!!!! you are all saying WHY WHY WHY did I agree to that. well I needed a way to work !!! so he picks it up takes it come back in two hours charged me twenty to pick it up and a hundred labor. MY WARRENTY BY THE WAY IS FOR PARTS ONLY NOT LABOR. said it was running fine but for some reason the battery died and it would just have to charge up when I rode it ( it never charged back up had to keep kick starting it ) . Next day It got me to work and when I got home bam oil everywhere !!!!! I call the owner of the shop and he was surprised to hear that the service guy had did what he did BUT the service guy is still working there today. Told me to bring it in and they would look at it. They determined it needed a new engine didn't say what was wrong or what caused it. Did say they found a pool of oil in the air cleaner box " I was wondering where all that oil was going!!! " They said they would get with the manufacturer about a new engine call back next week. SO I DID call back the next week and the next AND the next NOTHING !!!!!! I don't remember exact dates but the way it breaks down is this I bought it in Nov before the warrenty was up in 90 days it was broke so NOV, DEC, JAN at the latest!!! I git it back the end of last month FEB, MAR, APR, MAY, . ALREADY I am having what is probably fuel air mix problems. when I go past 1/4 throttle it bogs and dies Starts back up KICK start cause the battery is dead. HERE IS THE REALLY REALLY GREAT NEWS !!!! I check the other day and indeed I have more oil in my air cleaner box. AND THEY CHARGED ME $275.00 Labor to install new engine.
SO my question is this could all this have been caused by running too lean BURNING A HOLE in my PISTON and generally trashing the old engine and HAS IT begun again ?!?!?!?!?
