Hi, just found this site and am enjoying catching up on all the posts. I just bought a TNG DR150 (which by the way looks an awful lot like a Matrix 150, Tank Racer, and a bunch more). I bought the scooter on Ebay from a local dealer so I feel somewhat secure Other than a gas gauge that doesn't work and a fork lock that doesn't...I'm very satisfied with the scooter. Great performance and handling and I really like all the storage....of course I also have a trunk on order (can't have too much storage . Anyway, just wanted to say howdy and that I enjoy the forum. Mike

Hi Mike, welcome. I hope your dealer fixes your little problems, but overall, it should be a decent scoot for you. I hope you stick around and report on things. I think you are the first TnG owner to join. Cheers

Mike welcome to the group. TNG is supposed to be a reputable scoot I hope you many fun years together. Personally I wouldn't mind a TNG Baja! Aaron

HELP !!!! I have a serious question and I would REALLY appreciate all the help I can get with my issue. I bought a SUN L 150cc scooter in Nov of last year, it had a ninety day warrenty, inside of that ninety days it died. Every time I would ride it it would build up pressure in the motor and push all the oil out of any hole it could find ( air intake burp valve etc ). The dealership said it needed a new engine and that is when the real ordeal starts. I waited two weeks and called NO engine "call back next week" the next week STILL no engine "call back in TWO WEEKS" you get the picture. They took the scoot in for repairs AT THE LATEST by Febuary I just git it back in MAY. They say the delay was due to the need for a new engine and the manufacturers reluctance to give one up. Well guess what I have had the scoot about two or three weeks put about 300 miles on what I was promised was a new engine and in the last week I have been having problems ie, at Wide Open Throttle it farts and loses power randomly as I back off the throttle it starts to run better, well today it got really bad and it kept dying if I moved the throttle past 1/4 so I decided to look at the spark plug thinking maybe it was fouled. I had changed the oil and mistakenly filled it to the top of the dip stick as opposed to half way so I drained some oil and checked the plug. I was suprised to find the SAME after market plug I had installed in the OLD engine. I don't think they ever REALLY replaced the engine just reworked the old one. Is the spark plug a dead give away or am I missing somthing and would that part of the motor have not been replaced I have started a dispute with my credit card company trying to get a refund so I can purchase a UM matrix from shop in Tulsa OK ( I live in Fayetteville AR but would gladly drive up there to get a reliable scoot) Or If you know of a good shop somewhere close to me ( about as far as Tulsa ) let me know. My wife wants me to confront them about the spark plug but I don't want them to be able to say it was my fault for running an after market plug. HELP SurfBum

Did you buy your scooter mail order or from a local dealer ? A 150cc scootor is defined as a motor vehicle. Oklahoma has a one year lemon law (screw the 90 days). Arkansas also has a Lemon law but it appears to be a bit more in favor of the dealer. It might still be worth a shot as you made your first complaint was within the waranty period. Contact the Office of the Attorney General in the state where the dealer has thier brick and mortor address. FYI: Arkansas www.ag.state.ar.us/consumer/lemonlaw.htmlOklahoma autopedia.com/html/LemonLaw/OK_lemonlaw.html

It is arkansas and yes I bought it at the dealership and no the attorney generals office hasn't been anyhelp. I can only hope the credit card company has mercy on me and finds the dealership has to take the bike back. I go through GE money bank, got it through the dealership so they might support thier merchant HOWEVER I have had some with GE tell me they think I should get a full refund. what would you suggest as far as the engine is concerned I have thought about going with an MRP 150 power pack HOPING thta would replace most of the CHEAP parts in the engine. I would love to go with a big bore kit up to 170cc but I am not sure how much of my old motor will be left and wether or not it could handle it.

An engine doesn't come with plugs, or cables. You may have a new engine, and the reused the other parts. A lot of Major dealers Yamaha, Honda etc will resuse old gaskets and filters even on oil changes. There is nothing unusual here.
As for loss of power at above 1/4 throttle, that involves the main jet. It may be blocked, and check your fuel line and filter for gas and blockage. Up to 1/4 throttle uses the slow jet. Run some Berryman's b12 or Marvel Mystery oil through the gas.

I think you're out of luck as far as the dealer goes. This does not sound like an engine failure, but is more typical of a fuel supply problem. You either have a fuel line, fuel filter, vacuum problem or a blockage in the carb. Replace all the lines and clean out the carb and your problem should go away. Cleaning the carb is best done manually using carb cleaner and compressed air. Good luck. Stan

Thanks guys. Surfbum had emailed me earlier and I encouraged him to post on the forum for more thoughts, but basically you all are thinking like I did. I highly doubt he needed an engine. Some of these "mechanics" in scooter shops are downright scary. I agree, get the carb cleaned, replace the fuel filter, check fuel and vacuum lines for kinks or leaks. Problem gone.

One other thought. If its not fuel/carb, which is most likely, it could be air leaks. Its possible that the manifold gaskets, may not have been replaced which gives the same 1/4 throttle symptoms.

Thanks for all the input !!!! I know that no matter what happens I have really enjoyed the times when my scoot was running AND no matter if I have to purchase a all mrp has to offer in the way of carb jets , new carbs new cyl, I don't care I am going to find a way to keep riding !!!! one more small question has ANYONE heard ANYTHING about the CPI 150cc GTR I love the looks of it but does it run ? I read somewhere that it was a modified version of a GY6 motor that is liquid cooled.
