What speeds are the 250cc Chinese scoots, particularly the Barons and CF Motos capable of maintaining on the highway? Seems like a 250 ought to be able to hold an honest 65 but I haven't been able to get decent information on this.
What have been your experiences with the 250's?

Sorrry dude, I've only got a little 150...but it'll hold about 55mph on the flat. So, I'd imagine that a 250 would hold 65mph easy.

I've got a LinHai-Yamaha with a liquid cooled 260 cc engine, have had it a few months. Got it to commute, about half the time I'm on the freeway's with it. 65 mpg is no problem, have had it up to 77 mph and could go higher but ran out of room. Had to get approx. 500 miles on it for the break-in period before I got up to those speeds.

I'm curious as to how stable the 260cc feels at high speed.

My first real scoot. Was given a moped back in the mid 70's, so never got over 30 or so (no speedo). The LinHei is smooth above 35-40 mph, below has some vibration (inherent in a single cyl. engine). At high speeds the only problem is only about 3 inches of suspension travel. Big hits are BIG hits and you better be ready for them. Scoot weights in at 335 lbs and add 225 for the rider, so there's a fair amount of mass.

Hi Guys ( and Ladies )
I can tell you that a Honda Reflex can hold 65 mph ok according to what I have read. Other bikes in the same cc class should have similar performance, but remember, speed on these bikes is a function load and wind resistance...so what I quote for my own bike will be different from what you get on yours. I personally have a 161cc Vento Phantom Clone with a brand new engine (PSF 4-valve head) in it and it should, once it is broken in, top out at about 75mph and allow me to cruise and hold an honest 55-60 mph over most moderate terrain. Even brand new, it will do better than 65 on flat ground into the wind. Understand though that if you expect that kind of performance out of a 150cc stock bike, you will be disappointed. They need some massaging to do what mine will. A stock 250cc bike should run 75, right out of the box and close to 80 once it is broken in. With some mild performance goodies like carb and exhaust, it should be very close to capable of holding 70 over rolling terrain. Hope all this info helps....and I almost forgot....if you install a good windshield, that is good for between 5 and 10 mph additional speed and a lot more comfort on a 150cc bike.

I have had the CF V3 up to 55 routinely, with no problem. Still breaking it in, and it will go a lot faster but don't want a ticket. It will definitely do highway speeds with passing ability. Stability is excellent, but as with any bike at speed, wind is a terror. From its design and feel, I'm expecting 80- 85 without problems.
