Hello and first off thanks for a one stop shop, most questions answered forum.
I have recently gotten a little Roketa 50cc scoot for my wife. Long story, but buddy gave it to me if I could get it running. 24 miles on it and not cranked in 18 months.
I have redone the entire fuel system except for a new carb, but gotten it as clean as I think it can be without replacing it. complete new lines and vaccum hoses, the works, new battery. Got it to crank runs pretty well actually. My problem is that I think I am over tuning and not just leaving things alone, and reading too many threads to adjsut this and that. Right now the idle is about 2,000-2300 which I think is a little high, but it seems to want to die out too much below that until it is good and warmed up.
Issue number one - if we don't start it for 2-3 days, it takes for ever to get it to start and stay running, crank it next day, runs fine - is this as simple as the gravity fuel system and we jsut need to let it warm up 5-10 min before riding if we have been off of it for a while?
number 2 - right now it runs great from idle to 3/4 throttle and on flat ground, but from 3/4 to wide open and on hills it tends to bog a little, but it has almost a reverberating effect, like a wa, wa wa wa type deal.
This set up was same idle, but with the air/fuel screw closer to 2-2 1//2 turns out. After some digging here, it looks like that set up seems lean, which would make sense to me. (I found people 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 on here) Yesterday, I got in the gargage and played with it a while and adjsuted to about 3 1/2 turns out. Idled up a little higher, but bogged much worse when getting going. I did not run wide open, we had ice and snow yesterday, but will today. I don't want to keep playing with it if I am making it worse.
Right now I am jsut trying to get it to run as well as possible with the bone stock set up before I upgrade it too much. Wife put 50 miles on it last weekend and loves it and she is fine with it, but I just do not like the wa wa wa bogging effect. This seems to be hitting about 5k rpms as well. I thought it was the CDI, but on the stand it runs up just fine to 6-7.
Any easy thoughts, or is there just a lot more seat time and tinkering involved? Thanks folks and sorry for the long first post.
