Does anyone know how fast a 49cc E-ton beamer can go? I want to get a scooter, but don't want to have to get a motorcycle's license. However, I'm a little worried that a 49cc won't have enough power to get me where I want to go. I will have to commute 2-3 miles a day and a section of it is uphill. The max speed limit in my commute is 40mph. Will a 49cc be enough?

Hi sunshinecma, have you had any problems with your e-ton? I've read some bad reviews and am very hesitant about getting one. Thanks.

nope i just mounted the motor and wire harness on a 150cc tank that i had blew up the motor on. it pulls the 200+ frame and my 200 + butt around just fine. i have woned two of the etons and i sold my first one with about 15,000 miles on it and it is still runnin.

There seems to be a little confusion on how to "destrict" these models. It used to be, all one had to do was clip a wire to the CDI box. I'm not sure that is still true. I suggest you do some researching, starting here. Run a search in the 50cc and Two-Stroke sections(be sure to change the "go-back date and # of posts options). I think you will get a lot of hits.
Personaly, I think the E-ton beamer is the coolest of the Chinese 50's, but would have a hard time justifying the $400 to $500 price difference over the other two strokes available.

I own a 2005 E-ton Beamer Matrix... Great machine, don't want to hear otherwise, lol. Just kidding, any opinions are welcome. But seriously, I've had mine just over a year and a half with no problems, have about 8,000 miles on it and love it. It will do 45, verified by a GPS. IT IS DE-RESTRICTED BY CUTTING A WIRE ACROSS THE CDI!!!

Hey motomech just wanted to let you know E-Ton is made in Taiwan, and thats what makes the price difference... Higher quality build/components.

Does that mean it has a Yamaha built engine? Either way, it seems like a better deal now that you told me that. Still, the Little Ventos and Stradas seem really solid. Last night I read many Vento posts at Provoscooter and they were almost all hop-up questions with very few problem questions.

Yeah, Vento's are great. Over this past summer of 2007, I worked as a mechanic/ assembly secialist at a Honda/ Suzuki dealer and I disabled the alarm system on a Vento Zip, along with replacing the guy's battery (alarm killed it). Anyways, it was built solid, and rode great, since I had to ride it home for the guy (wasn't much of a rider, the scoot was given to him as a gift). By the way, the Beamer and the Zuma share a similar engine (Minarelli design)as well as the majority of 2 strokers.

If you're wanting to get a 50cc 2-stroke, the Beamer is among the tops, even compared to european models. Nice size/ weight to the machine, good handling, and peppy even stock.
