I do on occasions when my knee or ankle acts up. Here's an easy way to carry one without folding it up. It fits nice on this Xingyue.....but you could use the spring clamps in many different locations, on different scoots. Ace Hardware has three different sizes....this is the medium size. Take your cane with you to size it up.....it needs to hold firmly. I used one existing screw hole in the front.....and had to drill a single hole for the rear. The clamps are spaced out a little using washers, so nothing scratches the paint. I made two safety straps out of Velcro.....the cane won't fall off over bumps. It doesn't stick out very far, so a passenger could sit back there with the cane attached. Maybe this little device can help you out (hope so).....a cane is a necessary appliance for many people.

is it hard enought to protect the plastic from a fall ?

Well the cane wouldn't get hurt......but I suspect the plastic panels would just get cracked up around the mount points, even if the cane was the only thing that hit the ground.
Don't particularly want to test this out though.....

Great idea. I have an artificial leg so it would be cool to carry a cane to help out.

I use a cane often and until now had to go with a folding type held with heavy velcro to a small rack behind the seat. Now I can use one of my Hickory canes which I like a LOT more. Even though my scoot is a Retro style, I held the cane in place and it looks like it will work just fine. Excellent mod for folks like me. Thanks!

This is an excellent idea. I might toy with it some. Another idea is to use a folding cane in a quiver slung over the shoulder. However, I like the mounted idea better and appreciate the post. Now my mental gears are turning.

Thanks for all the kind words......hope this little mod helps some of you. FWIW......if you mount anything directly on any plastic part of these scoots, it'll be much a stronger mounting if you put a speed-nut inside the plastic panel. That spreads out the pressure to a bigger section of plastic, rather than simply relying on a the screw threads. I put about 1K miles on this scoot with the cane attached, before it started snowing. No problems with the mounting. I really don't think anybody has recognized this setup for what it is.....

Thanks for the cane carrier idea. I almost always have mine with me and one of the reasons I ride a scooter is because my hip prevents me from being comfortable on a standard motorcycle. I'll be at the hardware store tomorrow looking for clips since that has been one of the problems I've been having with my "new to me" scooter.

Blue, after seeing this I got what I needed and it works greeat. The only thing I did different was put a small washer on the inside just to make it a little stronger. I have it on all three of my scoots.
Thanks again, flash

Good ol American engineering. Thanks for the idea. I use a cane to hobble around and ride a scooter because of hip problems so this will be my next mod. The plastic on my Znen is too curved to allow for your idea to work but you do encourage me to keep thinking and for that I'm grateful.
