i couldnt get the video to work but i can tell you if your looking at the bendix it should spin clock-wise. i had the exact same problem with mine and it ended up being the starter was bad and spinning the wrong way.

ok got video to work and yes it looks like the bendix is spinning counter clock-wise which would be the wrong direction. if its the same reason mine was spinning backward its because the starter went bad and started spinning the wrong direction. should just need a new starter. hope i was of some help!

Are you sure the Wires are NOT crossed on the Starter? If they are crossed it will spin it the wrong way. Alleyoop

Oh, I thought it was supposed to be spinning counter-clockwise. I thought I saw that in another thread somewhere. So if I'm looking at the bendix (sitting on the left side of my scooter), the bendix should be spinning clockwise? Are you sure the Wires are NOT crossed on the Starter? If they are crossed it will spin it the wrong way. Alleyoop I have one wire going to my starter. It's the positive wire from the starter relay. The ground is through the engine case I guess which then connects to the negative terminal of the battery. I think this is right. Maybe I'll take the starter apart and see if anything is obviously wrong. Those things are such a pain to get back together. Then again I think there are some on ebay for $30.

Get a new Bendix, I just went through this on mine. After I had already bought a starter and solenoid I still had the same problem you have, the bendix did not go out far enough to engage the gear. I actually replace the Bendix first and it still was acting up. So I just replace the little bushing in the CVT cover and mine is now starting fine.

Looking at my video (I'm not around my scoot right now), the starter is spinning the bendix in the wrong direction. It's supposed to spin clockwise (I was mistaken on that before). I wonder why my starter would be spinning in the wrong direction. I'm pretty sure I have the connections right. There's a wire from the positive battery terminal to the starter relay. The other wire from the relay goes to the starter motor. Then there's a wire from the negative battery terminal to the engine case (indirectly).

Yeah but is it the starter actually spinning backwards or the bendix? The little springs inside the bendix could be broken which makes it spin incorrectly when engaged. Try taking the bendix (or the starter whichever is easier) out and the trying the starter and see if you can see which way it's spinning.

I'll have to check it out next time, hopefully tomorrow. Thanks!

I had the same problem, thought it was bad after I cleaned it. Well I found the answer on 1 site last night, which worked for me. When I put the starter back together I had the case upside down, so i took the 2 screws out that hold the starter together, then turn the case around which flips the magnets inside around. Wahlaa, polarity reversed due to the case being be up or down, would of never thought it.
