Here is mine before I painted it black. I could find no exhaust restrictions, but it's possible depending on who manufactured it. A lot of these came into the country with 80cc engines but advertised as 50cc. If you are getting over 35 mph, it's probably an 80cc.

didn't realise how many twins there could be out there, our scoots are clones of the Kymco Topboy and Cobra short video shows me doing 50mph according to the speedo(which I've been told is not right)..........My scoot's a Jinlun JL50QT-4, mods so far are Koso freeflow filter,No.88 main jet and 4.7g rollers(came with 8.5s but could'nt do much) and unlimited rev cdi, which still only lets me rev to around 7000rpm.............how are you guys managing higher revs??? according to some other scooter forums the exhaust is restricted like this putfile.com/pic.php?pic=11/31605343644.jpg&s=x2

forgot to say.....I've heard about the 50/80cc confusion but here in the UK 50s were doing these speeds before restriction became law back in the late 70s......

The only exhaust I've ever seen advertised for these as being unrestricted are here: www.scooter-assassins.com/ChineseScootersPage.htmlSome of the exhausts in the US were restricted with a flange at the header pipe which could be ground off with a dremel. Should also note that the tachometers can be terribly unreliable. Mine never reads over 6500 but I know it's much higher. How is the acceleration with those 4.7 rollers? That's the lightest I've ever heard anyone going.

a member of chinese scooterclub.co.uk had tried one of the assassins items but claimed he didn't have any improvement? 4.7s are great fun, many others are using 4.0s the majority of members here have 50cc.....I'll try some times at some point..........C

I've got an 80cc kit installed and am running with 6 gr weights. I think the extra torque from the larger displacement allows for heavier rollers. Interesting post on the UK board about derestricting the cdi. Even though a lot of these scooters share a lot of features, they are not all the same. Mine is a Venus Pacific and the cdi is not restricted. Also, some of the electronic components have different style connectors than most of the clones.

Has anyone tried a scooter assassins exhaust or any of their other parts? I am very interested in trying the clutch bell, clutch, variator, and Cdi.

Hey ooopsey, let it be noted that you are new member #78. At the rate we are going, we might bust 100 before the end of the month.
Nobody on here or on any of the other boards I watch have reported back on scooter assassins, except for a hearsay report on a British board that someone tried some stuff and it did no good. I tried emailing them to see if they wanted to put their products to the test in front of all the dawg readers but they never replied. I gave them my webstats and if they wanted some real cheap publicity they would have gone for it. Makes me wonder if they were afraid to put their products out there for independent review. They make pretty outrageous claims about their CDI. I personally have a tendency not to trust them. But my offer still stands to independently review their products.

I am glad I asked. I have ordered a bigbore 80cc kit already. I am going to have plenty of questions for sure. I have 3 right now for you Lee.
What type of exhaust is on that CVT video?
Is that a 50cc engine in the video?
What would cause my scooter to accelerate strong for about 4 seconds, then the power seems to decrease slightly up to around 45 mph.

I have ordered a bigbore 80cc kit . . the power seems to decrease slightly up to around 45 mph. GY6-50 4-stroke engines only go 30-35mph . . if your scooter goes 45mph on level terrain, it already has a displacement of around 70-80cc (and bogus paperwork).

I'm going to agree with the guest that if you are getting to 45mph, you've likely already got the larger bore, unless your speedo is in km and you didn't realize. Your acceleration in the higher range might benefit from a larger main jet. Also, you could probably get some improvemnets by tuning your rollers.
As to the video, I have no clue what kind of scooter or exhaust that is.

Is it normal for a scooter like mine to have bogus paperwork? My speedo is in MPH, but I have noticed at times that the speedo goes over the 60 mph mark on flat terrain. I guess it is time to have a friend follow behind me in a car and let me know what my max speed is. I hope I didnt blow money on a stroke kit for no reason.

While "guest " might be right about the displacement, I would like to point out a couple things. Devices have been placed on the scooter to keep it down to the 30 mile per hour speed, this is for the DMV/State/Federal regulations for the class of motor scooter. A spacer has been put in the CVT to keep the speed down by manipulating the top end gear ratio. Possible exhaust restriction has been designed to keep the speed down. Ignition advance has been retarded to decrease horse power, as well as a weak spark. Air intake is choked down to restrict airflow and decrease power.
I would not be supprized at all if your speedo was miscalibrated. I would however be interested in you making the few changes that you probaly will want to make even after the big bore kit, but think about doing it beefore you put the kit in.
Get rid of the spacer in the variator (CVT)(This is free power). Put a foam airfilter on it (cost 10-15 dollars and can get at local motorcycle shop) Then install a bigger main jet (some people have drilled out the old one) in the carb. You could also measure the bore of your cylinder before you install the kit to see if it is the same as the new one, if it is (lucky you) then you might save a few bucks and send the kit back. Best of luck to you and your scooter.

I already checked to see if the cvt had a washer and it didnt. The air filter was swapped and the scooter ran terribly. I was told it was getting too much air and not enough fuel. I tried messing with the carb, but I had no luck. I ended up returning the carb to the stock settings and reinstalling the factory airbox. I have ridden a few other 50cc 4 stroke scooters and mine is right there with all of the others. I am beginning to think my speedo is a little screwy. I am going to grab the extra drivetrain that we have laying around at work and stick my over bore in that so I can still ride while I get the big dawg ready.LOL So, what size jet guys? 88? Should I replace the exhaust as well? Any help would be great.

Ref scooter assassins I have ordered a racing variator from them it is due sometime around the 20th of May. So fair has replied to emails and has been very nice. But we shall see if the varitor with sliders will perform.

riker, please make sure you keep us posted. I was actually thinking about ordering that variator myself. I talked to Dave at www.strokeitimports.com last week and he told me that the best setup for a scooter like mine would be 5 and 8 gram roller weights....3 of each. I ordered them from vtcycles. they should be here this week. I will let you know if this makes a difference.

Those guys are real new and un-tested as far as I'm concerned. I've been hoping for an exaust for that engine for a long time.
