I'm starting to get insurance quotes but I'm unsure of what sort of limits (if that's what they are called?) to get.
Should I get uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage? Also not sure what I should set the Bodily Injury & Property Damage limits at. What do most of you have?
Also, anyone have any good or bad experience with any particular companies? A friend of mine has Progressive but he said once his policy is up he is going to shop around.
Thanks!

I've heard Uninsured/Underinsured is a very good thing to get... as for bodily injury/property, I'd take an account of what you carry on your scooter usually, phone, GPS etc...
As for good/bad experiences, from what I've heard, it varies from shop to shop... but you get a better experience if you meet the person face to face and get to know them

As an Insurance agent (I know we're the scum of the earth in most peoples eyes we rank right up there with lawyers and used car salesmen ) I recommend 25/50 Bodily Injury, 50 Property Damage and 5 Medical Pay (those are all in thousands and the med pay covers you and your passenger) Comprehensive and Collision with a $100 or $250 deductible. If you have full coverage as listed you don't need uninsured/underinsured coverage. Unless you're under 21 or have a terrible driving record the cost is very reasonable. The reason Comprehensive is so important it covers things like fire, theft, vandalism, someone knocking your scooter over, a tree falling on it etc. Dairyland Insurance Co has very good rates on Motorcycles and Scooters so does Progressive and Grange (only available in some areas) Check with a local Independent Insurance Agent in your area, They work for you not a company.

my only concern about insurance thing is to tow my scooter whenever and wherever it stall and bring it back to my house. i pay 75/year on my progressive. i dunno, i heard that some insurance company will tow the bike to the nearest bike shop for repair. nah, i want it towed to my house. i need to verify this with progressive before i do the long ride on 4th of july long weekend.

It depends on what towing/roadside assistance coverage you choose. Your agent should tell what is available and you can choose, if they don't find another agent.

When you join the AMA and sign up for automatic renewal it is free. The AMA fights for your right to ride. All riders should be members to protect our rights and get the Mo Tow service as a bonus.
