Here is the situation: Scoot starts in garage every morning, just a touch of the starter. After a trip to the coffee shop, 30 mins inside, the scoot cranks over only. I let it sit for awhile and eventually it will start. I have been lucky to have good battery, because i crank if forever sometimes. Any ideas? Carb, choke? I have never been stranded, but frustrated and kicking the can around the block a few times. Thanks for your insight.

When it won't start...
Buy a replacement spark plug and hook that up to the spark plug lead. Touch the outside of the plug to the engine metal and crank the engine and see if it shows a good blue spark. It should have a 'zap' sound
If you have spark, then it might be a fuel flow problem. People immediately start adjusting their carbs, but carbs just don't get bad that fast and adjusting it will only complicate your problems.
Could be a vapour lock in the fuel line or the tank. Loosen the gas cap 1/4 a turn and see if you have problems.
Probably not an enricher problem cause the engine is warm when this happens...even with no enricher the engine should start, you may have to give it a very little bit of throttle...
If you have no spark, or a weak spark, then it is probably electrical.
I would think it is the CDI or coil or stator.

See the thread above "no start when warm" - usually the culprit is the little Hall switch or pick-up coil - attached to the outside of the magneto, at about the 10 o'clock position. Two wires leading into the stator bundle. Hard to find without buying the whole stator. The other thing to check may be the gas tank vent - air needs to get in so gas can go out...

This is no biggy, all you need is a new spark plug. If it starts out in the morning, thats great but I bet you had to kick started a few times before it can go. A new spark plugs will have enough spark to start every time. If that doesn't work, then its probably your fuel line not getting enough fuel into the carburetor so go buy yourself a bottle of starting fluid (spray). Open up the filter box and spray the carb fluid into the filter and then try to start it right away, this should help.
Good Luck

STILL NO HELP, well since i had the plug out, and had a replacement, I check out the new plug and put it in. Of course, being cold the engine started right up. After a 3 mile ride, i shut off the engine and AGAIN i could not start the scooter, I tried for about 15 min with no luck. I came back 4 hours later and presto, one click on the starter and it went. Has anyone ever experiened this problem?

Obviously this is heat related. The engine gets hot and won't start.
When it won't start you need to see if you have spark. This is absolutely vital.
You have the old plug, just pop the spark-plug boot, put the old plug in and hold the metal part of plug on the head and see if you get a spark.

Sprocket, OK, I did the test you asked for. Initially 2-3 sec I saw a yellow spark...followed by no spark at all.

Sounds like the pickup coil on the outside of the magneto. Oh, I see I mentioned this already. There is a source mentioned for these without having to buy the whole stator. I think it is under the thread "pickup coil help"

more likely the pickup coil, not the ignition coil.
