Trikers, Found the perfect Muffler to replace the Cheap Mufflers that are on there. They are 12" long and can be adjusted for free flow Louder or Quieter less free flow. They sound really good and are not loud. When you go there click on the Video for the ATV. Alleyoop www.supertrapp.com/product_sections/cat.asp?CatID=34

Aileronjack, Well if you order from Ice Bear they send you the WHOLE THING, New Header Pipe, Gasket, Screws, Nuts, Mounting Bracket and of course the Muffler, all for $126.00 buckooos But I already went that route and the second muffler is also already welded, I think the second one lasted about 2-3 months before the rivets started to come out and leaking front and back So As they say Pay Me Now or Pay me Later, I do not want to be giving them $126.00 every few months Alleyoop

hi alleyoop can you recommend a less expensive muffler (the less $ the better) that for performance may be no better then stock, but would not fall apart? under $100 would be great. well under if something durable and cheap (cheap in price but not in quality) is available i figure when my mother's PST-11 comes in it might be an advantage to just go ahead and have it installed during the initial PDI. unless their might be a way to make the cheapo one that comes on the scooter more durable? like adding more rivets or reinforcing the thing somehow? also, what is a good, basic welding kit to work on stuff like this? i'm a complete novice to this stuff but am willing and able to learn. if i could do this work myself i would not even think about replacing the muffler it comes with until it falls off, and putting another on if it falls off during the warranty period! then putting a better one on if i could do it myself thanks alleyoop. i will also be posting in the new PST-11 thread that guy with the red trike made. i have some newbie questions about parts and performance and stuff. preventive maintenance and repair, too so feel free to chime in with anything you may have to offer. i find your posts very helpful and knowledgeable thanks again! EDIT: i see in the "repair" forums some people have "bands" around their mufflers. will these help keep the original muffler together?

ok forget most of that last post alleyoop. except the part about something less expensive then more expensive however after doing a little checking around myself i see you do in fact "get what you pay for" when it comes to mufflers and what not. i figure i can tackle it when the time comes tell me, does this look like a good guide for replacing a muffler on a gy6? looks pretty thorough www.scootdawg.com/downloads/MRP%20Performance%20Exhaust.pdf

mymonwantsatrike, The problem is this, The Muffler can only be about 14" Long from end to end otherwise it will not fit and hit the Rear Axle Tube. Otherwise I would have gotten something cheaper but I have GOOGLED for months actually since Last Year with No luck:)
The one that told me about which MUffler I should get is my HOT ROD WELDER. His shops works on nothing but HOT RODS, makes cages for them builds them up from scratch etcc. I believe the Cheapies that I found was for $199.00 from the same place.
Now here is another thing you are getting the 300cc Trike if I am not mistaken, and I noticed that the Mufflers on those are different than the ones on the 150s like I got. But if they have Rivets on each holding the outside skin on then you can expect them to start coming loose and leaking all around each end. If you don't want to buy a new muffler when this happens find a welding joint and have take out all the Rivets and weld both ends. Alleyoop

hi alleyoop which muffler is to order? the first one for $199, or the second for $199? or does it make a difference at all? i see somewhat different specs for both also the trike to be ordered is a 150cc, yes. not the 300cc. i don't know if i will bolt on a replacement muffler right off the bat or see what can be gotten out of the stock unit, but either way it looks like one is coming. so may as well buy it when the trike is purchased, at least. just to have it handy i will see if the shop can go ahead and strengthen seams / rivets of the stock muffler. maybe do some reinforcing by welding, if possible? whatever is possible

mymomwantsatrike, I just checked them, now you do understand that your current Header Pipe has a 2.5 inch Outlet that goes OVER the Inlet of the Muffler. So if you are going to have a New Header Pipe built to match the 1.5 or 1.75 ID(Inlet) on the Muffler it does not make a big difference which one you get. BUT if you are going to Keep the Current Header Pipe then you need to get one with a 2.5 ID so that the Muffler Will actually fit Over the 2.5 Header Pipe Outlet. Or you can just wait until the OEM starts to leak real bad and have it welded, I have been running with the welded muffler for 9 months now. Its a little louder but not that loud.
