Are you sure the actual lock on the gas cap broke? Why I ask is there is a Slit cut out of the Plastic that the lock just grabs onto. It could be that the plastic is ripped to much and piece of metal with a bend on the end does not grab the plastic anymore when you turn the key to close it. When open can you turn the lock? The lock is a joke anybody can just put a screwdriver in and pop it open. By the way which Trike do you have? Alleyoop

I have the PST 150 09. Its the one with the square headlight. I can't get the cap to lock in place. The key turns but it won't stay locked or hold. I would rather have one that turns with threads and no lock,

Hi Summersmoon, I mis-understood what the problem is. It is actually your gas cap and NOT the door to get to the gas cap. Well take the cap off and look along the sides of the neck inside and see if there are threads built in. If it has threads then you can get one that just screws on. Can you take a picture of the cap, when its in the open posiition and when its supposed to be in the closed position. Maybe it something that can be fixed. Look at this picture notice the cuts out inside the tank neck and the two prongs on the gas cap itself, is yours anything like this at all? Alleyoop

Its just like that. Very hard to get it to lock. I took the cap to Auto Zone but the don't have anything like that.
Also what is the trick to getting the trunk mounted. I can't get the screws to line up.

Take a picuture of the Neck and of the cap. It will only turn about 1/2 turn then you cannot turn it anymore. Is this the first time you took the cap off and tried to put it back on?
1. Does it go on? 2. If it does go on CAN YOU TURN IT? 3. If you can turn it, it should turn only about 1/2 turn before it stops.
If you cannot get it on PUSH DOWN ON IT with the TABS IN THE SLOTS in the NECK and TURN.
The trunk mounting plate is it a universal type with a bunch of square holes in it? If so you have to position it so that you can get the 4 bolts through four of the holes in the mounting plate. Now the four holes may not line up with each other doesn't matter as long as you bolt it down with the 4 bolts. Alleyoop
