Hi scootdawgs! I recently got a scoot and thought I would share. I moved to New Zealand for the year and needed cheap transportation, so a scooter was the best choice. I searched high and low for decent used scooters till I found this Sachs SX1. It was 3 months old and had only 50km on it with the original owner, and I got it for a steal ;D. Less than a month later and it has 650km on it. The winding roads out here are a lot of fun, what can I say? It handles very well and gets up to 62km (but probably only 55km in reality). I checked and the variator spacer is gone already. I took off the exhaust and did not see any restriction collar like some of the writeups say. It does bounce off the rev limiter, so I am going to see what a performance CDI will do. I am fine with its acceleration, but a higher top speed would be nice. I already retuned the carb. It was running very rich and had an oily spark plug. Its nice and tan now and it seems to run alot smoother than before. I changed the final drive gear oil at 500km and think I will continue to do so every 500-1000km as the bottle I purchased will be good for about 8-10 oil changes, might as well use it in my opinion. I only found SILKOLENE 2stroke scooter oil over here. Any good? Heres a shot from a trip to a little beach

Welcome. You folks do have some beautiful scenery. Have you seen kiwiscoot's posts? He's in Christchurch. You're right, winding roads - "twisties" are fun.

Thanks for the welcome! Well I got the CDI (7 days from order to recieve from Milwaukee to Wellington NZ, wow!) and yep, this little 50cc scoot will get up to 80km(~50mph) ;D. Ok, thats with the help of a hill, but its satisfying to know the limiter is gone for such a cheap investment. I will have to find a long flat area to test its top speed eventually. Check out this map to see what kind of fun I get to ride thru every day. The few times I rented a car, these winding roads with constant elevation changes made me car sick! Luckily the same is not true when on a scooter. maps.google.com/maps?source=ig&hl=en&q=wellington+nz&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Wellington,+New+Zealand&ei=SRNuS6meHo7QtAPpheGxDQ&ved=0CBAQ8gEwAA&ll=-41.288255,174.81102&spn=0.063977,0.21904&z=13 We have some beautiful scenic costal roads here so I should bring the camera next time to share some more pics, so look for me bumping up this thread in the future.
