i'm beginning to wonder if the chinese even know what a lock washer is.
so far i have not found a single lock washer on my scoot.

They use wide top hat bolts or nuts instead. I suggest blue locktite on everything. You would need to put on washers and lockwashers to use the washers though. But you may have to change out some bolts or nuts as the bolts might be too short in some cases and the wide top hat nuts don't seem to fit the lockwashers quite right.

Where appropriate, I have added Star washers and some stainless bolts/screws in areas more exposed to the weather.

Star washers are good for holding plastics. They transfer the force of the screw radially.
