I'm looking for moped/scooter riders, no matter what brand. I want to help to set up a ride for the Charlotte area.

I'm not sure yet, I don't have a licence so I have to avoid major highways. Do you have any ideas?

It's kind of a haul for me on a 150, but I like the back roads of Union County or southeastern Mecklenburg county. I am not eager to ride in the city. Where is your home base?
If we can put a ride together, I'd probably trailer the scooter to a staging area.

I live in downtown Monroe. I always ride the back roads, I ride Idlewild Rd. from Monroe to Mint Hill every morning for work. Riding thru Monroe is quite fun because the speed limits are so low. I love to cruise country roads, pretty much anywhere.

I used to live in Indian Trail/Monroe. I know that area well.
What is a good cruising speed for your moped?
When the airshow was in town, I rode from Rock Hill to the Monroe airport. That took about an hour thru the backroads. That is a ride in itself, thus I'd rather tow it to meet you rather than ride there, do a group ride and have to ride all that way back.

My moped does 40 to 50 cruising on a flat straight road. So 40 to 45 is good. I don't have a license, so I try to ride 30mph in the city like the law states, but on back roads I try to do the speed limit.

I am in South Charlotte. I just picked up a scoot. I have not ranged too far yet. I have been as far east as Providence road. I am still looking for lower speed roads as my scooter routes to certain destinations.

Welcome, I live in Monroe and work near Charlotte on Idlewild Rd. and Margaret Wallace Rd, intersection. I hope you steer clear of Independence Blvd. lest you get run over. People drive fast on Idlewild Rd. too. Do people get annoyed with you and the moped?

No because he goes 60. ;D BURN! All kidding aside, let's not lose sight of the fact that we just want to enjoy our scooters. Here is a map of my route to Monroe. Would you guys be up to meeting in Waxhaw sometime? It is supposed to rain on Saturday and be chilly in the 40s on Sunday. I don't really enjoy riding in temps below 50 degrees, but I will do it. There are many scooter friendly roads in those parts of Mecklenburg and York counties. Attachments:

Turtle8. You did not hear of a Duo Sport?
Well it says right here in my Chinese manual that"
"It adopts the high quality engine production by the advanced technology, and elects the excellent spare parts to assemble the body. So it is one of the fashion high motorcycles and has a lot of excellent performance example for large horse-power, low noise, electric ignition, electric starting, frame body with protecting advice, activity reactivity, driving activity, the super performance of CBU etc."

Is it imported by Redstreak? If so, Turbo on Redstreak scooters means it has a 70cc kit from the factory.

Waxhaw or Weddington sounds great, I've rode my moped in 30 degree weather before, didn't like it, but I have to get to work. I can really only go 60mph when drafting behind a large truck like a box truck or semi. I can cruise nicely at 40 to 50. Waxhaw is nice, and the speed limits are low. If you wanna ride I am game.

I bought it second hand so I am not sure of who imported it. There are no markings on it from Redstreak. The original owner made some basic mods of rollers and jets and air intake, so it moves pretty well. He said it was considerably slower stock.

Yeah but his sure looks like a moped. Actually it is pretty cool. It is really a lot more like a light weight motorcycle than a scooter. It is beefier than the 1980s mopeds that is for sure. I kind of like it.

I just chalked it up to "crazy chinese name". But I look at a listing at a scooter shop that sells them and see that there is a stock and a turbo model. So that begs the question: What is the difference?

It will be a miserable weekend. Cold 90% chance of rain. Sunday a high of 41 and a slightly reduced chance of rain. Brrrr!

I just checked Weather Underground for Weddington, NC for Sunday and it said a high of 47 and clear skies. That is still too chilly for me to go on a leisurely ride. I'll do errands at that temp but, not an extended ride.

Yeah I heard that, I think we may have to reschedule. Whenever anyone wants to ride when it is not raining, I am more than willing to set something up.
