I have a Redstreak MT50QT-3 scooter. I have not started it since July. Now it will not start. I do not have a manual. The battery seems really weak. I have a small charger but have no idea where the battery is located. I also have tried to kick start it it sounded like it was going to turn over once and then nothing. Can anyone help?

Charge battery, clean carb, check spark plug.

If your scooter looks similar to the above, look under the floor mat for a battery compartment cover. The battery may be severely degraded due to sulfation. If replacement is required, also purchase a float type charger. Before removing the carb for cleaning, try an in-place flush. There may be an access cover at the bottom of the under-seat tub. For better access, on some models the tub/seat assembly can be lifted out after removing 4 screws or bolts. Adding Sea Foam to the fuel is another option. 4-stroke manual download resource.

spurdie, if the scooter shown by Tortise is similar to yours, the battery is in floor, pull up the mat and there is an access panel, two screws on mine, remove them and the panel, the battery and fuse is all that is in there, can't miss it. You don't need to remove the battery unless you can't get your charger close enough... charge it and see if it will turn the starter strong enough to start up. The Kick Start on this model is a joke, it will work, but only if 'things are just so', I cannot describe it, but once you start it a few times with the kicker, you will understand exactly what I mean... just with the 'feel' of the crank under your foot with light pressure will tell you if your effort that time will start the thing on that partcular 'kick'. Good luck!

Why didn't you just trace the wires from the starter back to the battery ?
