First, Engilsh is not my mother tongue and asking for a pardon for my poor English. Since I like taking pictures, I decided to start a thread and keep everything on it. I ordered Tank 250DE-08 at the end of September but it didn't work out well. While looking for some deal on 250cc scooters, I found a new MS3-250 on eBay. paid $2492 including shipping. It was delivered two days after I ordered. The MCO arrived almost at the same time but wasn't notarized and I had to wait a couple of days to receive it after I sent it back. I paid $171.50 for registration and tax(3.25% in OK). Full coverage insurance was $68 for 6 months with 100/300/100. So far, I installed slim HID from eBay and cruise control and am planning to install LEDs to revive the dummy turn signals. Pros so far(to be updated) 1. Fuel Injection 2. Good power 3. Long service interval (2500mi) 4. only 4 bolts to open the rear like a hood on a cars. Con so far(to be updated) 1. Gas cap 2. Windshield is too small 3. Globe box 4. Hard to read speed in miles 5. Speed meter is too optimistic - 50mi(40mi GPS), 70(60 GPS), 92(80 GPS) 6. No parking brake 7. small gas tank (2.4 ga) 8. When cigar jack is in use, globe box can't be closed. Gas mileage www.fuelly.com/driver/bananazx/ms3250My mods on MS3-250 1. HID scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=271962. Cruise Control scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=272433. LED brake light upgrade 4. Navigator mount - see below 5. Rear bag - see below 6. Traffic light magnet 7. Rear LED turn signals 4. Navigator mount I had some parts of ram-mount left from modifying CBR1000RR. I have two arms but long one was too long to use. I used the shorter one. Drilled holes don't line up nicely but that's enough for me as long as it works. Still wiring part remains yet. will get to work on it when LEDs come. Mean while, cigar jack power is in use.

Hey - you got a good scoot there. Great pix. I agree with your pros and cons, especially the gas cap! You'll get used to the speedometer. Don't worry about the bit about English. You're doing fine. We're Americans and the King's English is not our primary language either.
Why don't you join us over on Harry's "My United Motors" thread since the Xpeed 250i and the MS3-250 are the same scoot?
Ride safe and enjoy!

Well... I'd like to make a biography of my MS3-250 and see how it changes or goes through. I also read and write on Harry's.

I've read your posts, you've done a great job with the bike. Can you give me some advise on how the get to the headlight bulbs, to either change them or make it so both headlight will come on as low beams instead of low and high beams...thanks

It is a '08 CBR1000RR Limited edition. I made my own tail eliminator myself. I used to have Two Brother's slip-on but was too loud and had to take it off.

I think I saw how to make both headlights on. I'll try to find and post about it.

How to get to the headlight bulb... Start with the bolts in the radiator grill and remove every bolt that seems to hold the front cowl and soon you will get to it. One helpful tip I got from this forum is to tape the bolts where it came off with scotch tape. That way you don't lose any and no bolt left when assembled back. The MS3-250 manual on Harry's post is also a great help. I got this information from MS3 forum in Korea. I think this should work since the internals are supposed to be same. 1. Open the handle cover 2. The yellow connector is of left electrical switches of the steering handle. 3. Let's number the yellow connector pin as the following. - 9: power to the headlights (yellow with white stripe) - 5: high beam (yellow) - 8 : low beam (white) If you want to put headlight switch, it should be on 9 (switch should have capacity of 5A) If you short 5 and 8, both high and low beam are on all the time. If you installed a headlight switch, it should be 10A capable. If you want low beam only at low beam and both on at high beam, 6A diode is need to connect between 5 and 8. (+ for 5 and - for 8) It drains 110w when you turn on both. HID would be a better choice.

Parking brake mod for down hill from Korean site. Squeez the left brake lever hard enough and drill a hole. Use hex wrench when you park. Don't make too big hole since it is of alluminium and somewhat weak part.

I changed oil at 200miles. The used oil had metallic particles in it making it look like somewhat metallic paint. Oil strainer had big chunk of metal debris too. My oil filters are not arrived yet and I only changed engine oil and transmission oil. The transmission oil was very clean but I changed it anyway.

Mine had metallic particles in it when I changed at 600 miles. You're really going it. +1 for the effort!

5. Rear bag installed (11/10/2009) paid $60 for the bag but the shipping was expensive. Ordered several items so don't know how much it cost.

Today I installed a piece of rare earth magnet I got from my friend who works at a physics lab on my scooter. I used epoxy to attach it to the bottom of the front cowl. I tested the traffic signals I have had trouble with and this thing works really well and well worth it. No more keep waiting/detouring.

I had an old computer I don't use anymore, and took the magnet out of the harddrive and attached it to the bottom of my scooter. It does seem to help at some traffic lights, I have gotten the green arrow for a left turn with no traffic behind me when I would have to sit and wait before.

Yeah that should work too since the magnets inside hard drives are strong. I heard that some other states have laws that you can go on red after three loops. Unfortunately not in Oklahoma.

Nice scooter! I have the same year & color MS3-250. No parking brake on mine, though (cool idea).

I know you have the same one. My mpg is kinda low I think. between 50-60. On the fuelly, only you and me are listed under MS3-250 but I don't see your posting of your gas milage. BTW, I don't have parking brake either. I just got it for others who might need it.

A plastic cable tie around the handle works as a parking brake to if you do not want to drill holes in your brake assembly.

I know you have the same one. My mpg is kinda low I think. between 50-60. I get 75+. But then... Within the city limits speed limits are strictly enforced. I can drive maybe 200 yards from my front door before hitting the first 'speed trap'. Some days I go thru 3 speed traps to get the 2 miles to the grocery store. I given up the habit of getting to the next stop light before the car behind me pulls out from the last stop light. Outside of city limits stop signs are few and far between..so it's a steady 45-50 MPH. The only time I'm at WOT is going thru the passes...of course the mileage is quite good coasting on the return trip.

Thanks for sharing your mileage with me. No matter how gentle I try I don't get over 60. Something must be wrong with me or with my scoot.

I'm running 25 psi front...30 psi back and a CR7EIX plug rather then the stock CR8E plug.
Other things I can think of ...the cams aren't suspended on bearings...they just turn in the camholders...I can imagine that on a new 'tight' engine this might be an issue until they break in.
I can't say what a new engine is like...since I got mine with 1100 miles on the clock.
I don't think my engine 'broke in' until about 4,000 miles. I took a little 240 mile trip around the 'hood(3 mountain passes) at 60 MPH+ speeds(mostly 70+ MPH) at around 4,000 miles...after that the bike 'seemed' to have a bit more get up and go.

In Orlando, Fl., where there is traffic all the time I'm averaging 75-80 mpg. Even though I was told I had a 2 gallon tank at that time of purchase. Any body know if a large fuel tank is availble?/

AFAIK, There is no larger tank. I wish there were too. I put a 1 gallon gas carrying plastic can I got from Walmart in the rear bag instead.
