Which digital did you get for christmas? Nice shot of the Pelican. It's shorts and flip flops right now but that will change tonight. So long it stays above freezing, I don't mind it.

I've got a similar rig, it's just not portable enough, and slow to set up.

Found a deal on a like new Panasonic FZ30, it is one heck of a critter gitter ;D It will reach out so far it scares you. That's great! I have an FZ1/2, an FZ1 that's software upgraded to FZ2 specs. Had it for 4 years now. That 12x Leica lens makes all the difference in the world when you want to reach out and touch someone, and image stabilization is really good all the way out, though it helps to have something to brace yourself against. Mine is only 2 megapixel... but it doesn't really matter much, the great optics of the Leica lens is more important than having lots of pixels, and I can get 2000 pictures on an SD card. They make perfectly crystal clear 8x10 glossies, that's good enough for me. I can send you a uncompressed picture sometime and you'll see. Everything I post or publish on the net is always compressed a lot. About 25% of the country is still using dial-up!

Out where I am we are lucky to have dialup ;D They come out a couple of times a year and tape up the places where the squirrels chew the insulation off. I keep my yard pretty wild, all natural plants and trees, and the sissy who reads the electric meter goes crazy looking for critters ;D I told him that the gators usually stay in the back yard! ;D Panasonic came a long way in a short time with their cameras, they are making some good stuff. I agree about the MP thing, I still use my old Olympus C2100UZ a lot, only 2 MP. It beats the big cameras much of the time.

The megapixels keep getting higher, but for many companies the lenses never get any better. I think it's on account of electronics keep getting cheaper, but good lenses don't. Also megapixels are connected to everything technological today, so people understand that, but the general public doesn't know Leica from a Loofa.
