I put speakers into my helmet; it is more comfortable than earbuds and I can hear better. I tried to put a speaker system on a bike years ago, couldn't hear it at even street speeds with a full face helmet on. I bought the helmet speakers on ebay for like $20.

I'm a musician and am pretty fussy about the quality of sound I hear. Would like to learn more about the safety of speakers in the helmet. Does it block out the essentials sound you need to hear while riding?

I purchased the same system last June. Have it still in the box. I plan on making it one of my winter projects. Not sure of where to put the amp, & subwoofer. Also where to run wires. Putting it on my Majesty 400. Anybody done this?? Plan on starting this soon. Will get back to you on install & quality of sound. I'm also a musician & DJ so sound is important to me too.

I wear headphones on the scoot all the time. I havn't had an incident wearing them. I have had 2 incidences when I wasn't wearing them, ironically. I'm thinking it would be pretty offensive to say that a deaf person can't ride a bike. If you are paying attention and not intoxicated, I don't see why you can't listen to some tunes while your riding. But thats me, I'm sure some people would say its dangerous.

I would venture to guess that yes it does mudfreek. A 50cc scoot can't take anything.
As far as the OP's post, it lists for 899 and sells for 133 for a savings of over 700 dollars. Wow. Seems a little bit off to me! LOL

I am not afraid to try something, I would love to learn more about putting some small speakers or something in my helmet. Know any links or any info on doing that. I sometimes ride with 1 earbud in, but when I am going down the road I loose it, then I am out of music for the rest of the ride.
Speakers in helmet sound awesome.

I upgraded the factory system on my Tank. Used a Kenwood deck that has an IR remote. IR is line-of-sight so it wouldn't work with the sterio under the seat. This is the TIP. I used a digital audio cable (fiber optic). I attached the cable to the front of the remote where the IR "bulb" is with epoxy putty and attached the other end to the bottom of the seat pointed at the sterio. Ran the cable under the body work to just under the handlebars where I attached the remote with double sided tape. I now have full volume and station control without having to stop and open the seat.

ok im new to this scooter thing but i just got a peace sport VIP 50cc and put audio on it but it works great but drains my battery what can do to fix this This scooter comes with a 4 coil stator, so it's barely enough to run the scooter. You can get an eight coil stator for the QMB139 and it would do the trick, but that's about all you can do short of putting in another battery just for the tunes and charging it after every use. -Rich

thanks alot rich also do you know how i can find the cdi on my model scooter and is a stator the same as regulator is so if i have a 4 coil how do i wire it to a 8 coil

The CDI will be located under the seat on the right side of the scooter, just take out the screws in the seat bucket and the whole bucket will come out. It looks like this: No, the stator is not the same as the regulator. There are three types for the QMB, all three types can be seen at this link. You have to determine which one is wired the same as yours for it to be plug and play. The stator can be a major pain in the butt to remove, especially if you have no experience. It's located under the fan on the crankshaft. You'll need a three arm puller to get it off. I would highly recommend finding a local shop if you could to do the install for you. As an example, if you brought us the parts it would cost you $50 for us to do the install for you - well worth the money. -Rich

Big Guy I'm almost positive if he changes from a 4-coil to a 8-coil stator he'll have to change the regulator also to at least a 5 pin, will look to see for sure. JRR

hey rich I was thinking of something tell me if think this would work if i got a extra battery put it under the seat and add a 12v power source to the new battery and a battery charger to the power source to charge the battery back up so i dont have to take battery in and out to charge please tell me what you think

JR is correct, you would need to change the regulator if you changed the stator, but I think the secondary battery is a better idea myself. You could mount a battery somewhere out of the way and screw on a quick connect for the battery charger. Wire the two wires from the battery to under the seat and where it terminates, put on the quick connector. This way all you'll have to do is open the seat and plug the charger to the quick connects.

I like Rich's solution here. Less work, and easily reversable if you sell your scoot. On my scoot there is a second compartment under the floorboard that would work great for this. Fortunately, I have an 8 pole stator OEM, and have converted all bulbs to LED so I have plenty of power.

Not to purposely pimp our wares or anything, but here is another option: www.partsforscooters.com/172-85_Scooter_Stereo_SystemVery similar to the first listed item, but comes with a subwoofer. The sub makes a BIG difference. It does sound pretty good, even at speed, and it is extremely low draw (at a trade show we ran this all day in our booth off of an electric kick scooter battery) so it even works well on the small scooters. Sure, it isn't going to bump with the car audio solutions, and on anything faster than a 150 it probably won't be loud enough, but it is a clean simple install and doesn't have disappointing sound quality. Just my .02 Matt

I tried to put a speaker system on a bike years ago, couldn't hear it at even street speeds with a full face helmet on. I bought the helmet speakers on ebay for like $20. Could you explain this setup a bit more? What/where are the speakers plugged into for music, an mp3 player of some sort? I'm hoping to do something simular. I have an old "XM Satilite- Sportster" model that is an fm transmitter. Figured I could setup my satilite radio on my future scooter and use a cheap walkman type fm radio to tune into the XM radio. All that said, I dunno how to go about putting speakers into a helmet

I got a cheap set of helmet speakers on ebay, they worked well. Then when I got an iPhone I got a cheap Bluetooth speaker/microphone set. That worked even better, no wires and I can answer the phone if need be. Then I bought a Nolan helmet, and got the N-COM system for it. Not cheap, but the sound quality is much better. I also wear earplugs to cut wind noise, and I can still hear both the stereo and everything else I need to hear.
