The lousy weather finally broke. It was a little cool yesterday but definitely nice so I rode to class. Today was supposed to be better still.
My wife had classes and meetings and I'm off on Thursdays. Did a little outside work and hung around the house until 12:30.
I wanted to get a decent ride in before the next round of cold/rainy hits. I suited up (including chaps) and took off at about 1PM. Rode from my place to the little village of Riverside. Picked up PA 985 otherwise known as "the Somerset Pike". Rode that through all the little villages to Somerset. The crosswinds along the ridge tops in open farm land were just nasty at 45-55 mph and I got smacked around. Got out to Somerset, pulled into a shopping center shut down and stretched fo a couple minutes.
Headed back the way I came on 985. Took a right onto PA 601 ran through some more little villages. There were less cross winds which made it better. I like 601 because it has lots of dips and curves. Got off 601 and ran to the top off Quemahoming Dam. Took a stretch break. Headed back down around the dam. Picked up 601 to Pa 403 to Eisenhower Blvd - the road to the burbs were I live. Blew it out a little coming up the hill. Picked up PA 56 then the side street home.
Got back at 3. Round trip - 67 miles of fun (other than winds) roads, pretty Fall colors. Lots of other riders out there including a lady on what looked like a 54 - 250B.
Sorry no usable vid. I had the camcorder on a strap around my neck and it got blown around too much to be useful.
I hope the weather holds for awhile!
