Bike GPS Tracking ( www.bikegpstracking.com/) is selling a motorcycle/scooter/ATV tracking unit for $349. It requires a subscription, which can be had for as little as $5.95/month, but with that subscription you can go online and see exactly where your scooter has been (they have a neat demo on their website). If it's been stolen you can see where it is right now. And if your teenage son has it, you can see where he's been riding and how fast he's been going. The $5.95 gives you an update every 30 minutes, but you can upgrade to an update every minute for a day for $9.95 and a week for $29.95 -- a pretty reasonable price to be able to call the cops and say your stolen scooter is at the corner of X and Y, traveling east RIGHT NOW. Go get it! They also offer options like a tether switch, so if you are thrown off the bike it sends a text message to someone with your GPS location. A panic switch sends a similar message. And a motion sensor will send an alert if the bike is moved more than 100 yards. The same company has been selling similar (but cheaper) units for cars at www.driveok.com/. Maybe a little pricey for a Chinese scoot but a pretty reasonable price to protect an Italian or Japanese scoot. I have no connection to them -- just noticed an article about them in GPS World. Jon
