As most of you know from a previous thread I posted, Honda for 2008 has absolutely nothing new, and has removed the helix, reflex, and most of the lower cc bike lines. I thought this would be a move to an all new lineup and series design for Honda in 09 and the first of the lineup is on track. When it hit the floor at the Tokyo Motor Show last year, the Honda CB1100F looked like much more than a concept. With its engine acting as a stressed member of the chassis, and its engine an all-new air-cooled design (that allows air between the two middle cylinders of the inline four), this looked a lot like a future production model. The bike will go into production in 2009, and will immediately be available in the U.S. market that year. Either that or they won't have a market. www.motorcycledaily.com/010208top.jpg

I really liked the older 1000cc inline four Honda they had a number of years ago. It would be really nice if they brought it out again. Sort of a big bore retro like CB750. But knowing Honda, they won't sell it here in the USA for some reason.

I like it, wonder who will by it though? Well, the source is MCN and they make no mention of it being a USA model. The retro-japanese look is popular in Japan but who is the target market in the USA? I suppose the HondaUSA goofballs may want this model to target the Harley elder-crowd with a bike that brings back fond memories but I doubt it will sell well. By the way, the Yamaha Sakura is a much better execution of a "modern retro" while this Honda just looks like an old motorcycle. To most Americans the CB1100F will simply look old or dated rather than iconic or retro-inspired (think VW Beetle vs. New Beetle).

Hmmmm .... if they really want "retro" then they have to have a kick starter.
