Ya, the Chinese say to check out nuts and bolts before riding to be sure the scooter is safe. Well, I own a Bali 250 and the rear lug nut keeps working itself loose. I keep tightening and it works itself loose. Today I rode 80 miles and met a college buddy for lunch. It was 47 degrees at 10:00 a.m., clear blue sky, and not bad for a ride. I had just tightened the bolt down the night before( use a tire iron from our pickup and a 5/8th inch racket set to tighten bolt). It would not tighten any tighter. On the way home, at 55 to 60 mph, the lug nut worked loose again. It has been a constant problem since I bought the Bali 250 new. I would swear that the chinese forgot a major part. But anyhow it broke loose and suddenly going around corners, well the scooter gave me the most unsure feeling. Rear wheel having play in it, well it rode like the rear tire was flat. Gave a scary feeling and made me slow down also on corners. Cars and truckers passing by in the opposite lane and me feeling very nervous when coming up on them. I had to complete the ride home, with the lug nut loose. But I decided not to get stuck in the perdictament again. I will drill a small hole in the axle tomorrow and put a pin in it, so the lug nut stays tight on the axle. The rear wheel only had a inch of play, but that is enough to cause a wobble. I retightened it when I got home( the sameway as the time before) and rode it around the neighborhood. It ran fine again. But to stop this from ever occurring again, the lug nut and a cotter pin is best.
