Good afternoon all scootdawgs from old sunny and pretty Arkieland! Boy with all the rain we've had the sun is one pleasant sight! Last weekend the Mrs. and I took a trip up to beautiful Eureka Springs Arkansas to the STO Rally and I apologize that I haven't already got this post up but have had a lot of things going as of late!
We started out on a Friday morning and when we left Perryville it was cloudy and not raining but right before we got to Morrilton where we were going to get on Hwy 64 we ran into a shower, just enough to get pretty wet! Mama wasn't happy! We stopped at Walmart got some slicker rain suits and came back out to sunshine the rest of the way! A beautiful ride!
So without further a do here are some pictures! Again we went on Hwy 64 west from Morrilton with us planning on getting on Hwy 23 north at Ozark. Hwy 23 is one of Arkansas's scenic highways and goes through some of the most beautiful parts of Arkansas and the Ozark mountains!
Just wanted all to know that Mater lives in Arkansas!!LOL ;D Took this funny picture on one of the little towns along Hwy 64 before we got to Ozark.
Now as I said before Hwy 23 is a scenic highway and is known as the Arkansas Pig Trail up through these hills!
This is just one of the many sights one will see as one minute you're riding along and the next minute you have a mountain right in your face!
Sorry I should have got a little closer to the power line pole but what I weas trying to show is the sudden drop off that even the power lines run over! When ice storms hit sometimes it's days before power is restored as this work is all done by hand, no trucks gonna scale these mountains! LOL
Now this is one of the boat sites for travlers, visitors and anyone else on the Mulberry River and their is a state park up in these hills, just a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors!

Now all this was built by the CCC's in the 30's along with a lot of other roads and parks in Arkansas!

I thought that all CCC camps had been disbanded and a lot of them left to simply crumble away but there is still a standing camp up on Hwy 23 and is active especially in the summer!
Another mountain scenery view!
Take note of how the trees are not even cut back off the highway and left untouched! Just like a pig trail!
Lot's of clear water streams and creeks!
Like to hike or walk trails? This is the place!
Now up on Hwy 23 one goes through the town of Huntsville and ya just got to stop at Granny's place for some of this:
Arkansas Catfish! And they have 10 different varieties of PIE! My favorite Chocolate Pecan!
Here's something elses one can see in these hills and it's one mean critter a wild Arkansas Razorback Hog!
Finally made it to historic Eureka Springs! A old downtown view!
Lot's of two story buildings here as folks actually have to build right in the sides of the mountains! Not a lot of acreage so ya just build up instead of out! LOL
One of the stop ins for the poker run on Saturday.
Guys if there is anything you need for a motorcycle or scooter there are a lot of cycle shops and suppliers up in this area! They really cater to the 2-wheel riders because there are thousands of riders who come through here every year! There was a BMW rally going on at the same time as the scooter Rally! never seen so many BMW's in my life! LOL
All pictures of Eureka Springs and the last one is of the haunted majesty Hotel!
This is the gazebo where the Mrs. and I got married a few years ago, it's foggy in this picture and it looks right out over the edge of a mountain!
The famous Carrol County Courthouse, at one time there were two county seats in Carrol county!
More Mountain scenery and on the way home we came back down Hwy 23 and cut across on another route Hwy 16 east.
Now we are in behind our scooters sitting down outside enjoying a soda pop and if you are in front of this little country store like we were then when ya walk out the front door you get to see these beautiful mountains every day!
Yep Like I said can't beat the Ozarks and in a few short weeks the autumn leaves will be kicking in, and I'll go back!! JRR
