kids ya all need to be carefull while riding home at night. i was riding home from work last night around 2 am and a couple of guys in a car tryed more than one to force me off the scooter with their car and even got out and tryed to grab for me and the bike. they ended up shoving me into a ditch and trowing big rocks at me. i did what i could do to keep the bike upright is it worked. it was a rainy night and cold. called the cops and gave them a make and model. didnt get a plate. i want everyone out there to be carefull and stay safe.

Is it that hard to justify shooting someone in that situation in a state other than Florida? I live in SC and if someone attempts to do that to me I will defend myself. Dumba$$es think that because you drive a scooter, automatically you are a sisy and a target to everyone. Hope you are ok.

That's the kind of situation that Indiana carry permits are for. If I had to ride at 2 am, you'd better believe I'd be packing. Hope you're OK!

i am ok and now a can pant over the fugly brown/orange ish color that the bike was. it will be a burnt orange. i will be replacing my riding jacket as it is history so will be ridding in a hoodie for now. i am thinking about getting my wepons permet but untill then i will be caring a pp gun or a paintball gun. with the paintball gun the cops will find it easy to find them. any good winter riding jacket ideas. also for gloves.

Glad you're ok! Sometimes I can't stand the way people act... I would seriously think about freezing them paintballs too, or you can use marbles if you can find the right size. Again, Glad you are ok.

that got me thinging of ways to keep my but outa the dirt and one of them is a trike kit for this thing. do any companys make a kit for the 50cc/150cc scooters. or will one have to be gehtto riged.

Post by WarrenS on Dec 4, 2007 19:01:49 GMT -5
I don't think a trike is the answer. A 2 wheeled vehicle is much more agile when it comes to maneuvering to avoid trouble. Of course when the weather gets nasty 3 wheels look better. Most of the conversions I have seen are for bigger scooters and are expensive.

Honda Reflex is about the smallest scooter I've seen that you can get trike kits for. About $2,500.00 though plus installation. just-trike-it.com/index.htm

When my daughter graduated from high school in 1986 I bought her a .38 snub revolver as a graduation gift. A lot of her friends and their families went bonkers, but just a short time later my wife and daughter broke down along I-10, late at night. They were approached by 2 creepy crawler types, who were ready to smash a window. The sight of the little .38 changed their minds. There are a lot of nasty people out there, and decent people shouldn't be made defenseless, ever, anywhere.

I'm sorry that had to happen to you. Those bastards will have to answer for that one day. People like that have no purpose on this earth, or right to live in the USA. Consider getting a little protection. I don't leave the house without my "little friend" Next time you can send 'em runnin and in need of a new windshield.

for those of you in indiana how hard is it to get a permit and gun

Post by Dennis D on Dec 4, 2007 22:20:26 GMT -5
As long as you don't have a criminal past, they can't deny you a permit. I forget just how much it is.... $25 or $30 I think. You pay some that goes to local PD for a preliminary check(about $10) right up front, when applying for it, and then go back in a couple of weeks with a money order for the rest. That goes to the state, which then will send the permit, usually in 3 weeks to a month. Our permits are good til 2/09, so it was 2005 when we last got ours. It could have gone up by a few $$ since then. Everything else has.

Take a CCW/handgun class, and practise regularly before buying/carrying one, if you are not familar with handguns. Merely owning a pistol no more makes you a Jeff Cooper, than owning a piano makes you into a concert pianoist.

Being a female, I would also suggest that you might want to look at employment that has a reasonable hours and not have you going home with the nightcrawlers. My job requires me to work at night sometimes and I do come across some real winners once in a while that try something. I try keep the individuals at a disadvantage as much as possible, don't turn your back on them you will loose for sure. look for escapes or for things that you could you use as weapons. Be aware of your surroundings, don't keep a routine, size up the situation, if looks like trouble change the plan, look ahead and visualize what might happen and what you can do to avoid the problem. Sometimes a little prevention can make things safer. There nothing wrong with owning a gun for your protection but do spend time in class and learn to use it properly.

scooterlizard, that was the best advice you gave. I wish that everyone would use that kind of common sense. I wish that I lived in a state that allowed concealed carry. Scumbag people ruin life for everyone.

I like the paintball idea. especially if the pellets are the kind that don't wash off. That is until your able to start packin.. Damn right I'd be shooting their car up with it and ringing the police afterwards...
