Hi everybody, My name is Shane and I am NEW to the forum. My question is this. I was wanting everybodies opinon / feedback. I have always own scooters and motor-cycles. I just moved back to CA from WA State and now I want (MUST HAVE) a scooter! I found a 150cc Honda Elite with only 600 miles on it, perfect condition and for 750.00! I owned 2 of these growing up. Should I get the Honda or a Chinese scoot? I like the chinese scoots and think they are awesome looking. I live in Riverside County and there are a few dealers so the warrenty would include not just parts but labor as well. The only concern I have with the Honda is the fact that is over 20 years old and finding parts would be hard. What would you guys/gals do? Thanks in advance! Shane

Sounds like a great deal on the Elite. Honda parts and dependability is hard to beat. The Elite is a little different looking but with those miles you should get a lot of trouble free scootin out of it.

Honda would be hard to beat. Sure you could find parts and a Honda dealership that would help you out when needed. Only 600 miles? Only $750? That's probably the ticket if you want easy scooting. If you want a newer look there are some Chinese cheapies that are realiable to consider too. But $750 would be tough to get one of the better China 150s. Tom

I can't believe it only has 600 miles either! When I go pick it up on Tuesday I am going to change the hoses, spark plug, oil ex. I remember in 86 when the scooter seen happend. I bought a honda 150 elite then a yamaha 125 riva and and 50cc honda. Then 10 years later a bought another150 elite honda from a 79 year old man for 450.00 that was perfect. I never had one problem with any of the Hondas and I beat the crap out of them!! The yamaha Riva needed new valves at 3000 miles though. I love working on scooters. I plan on restoring this to where it looks like it just left the factory.

Outside of the looks, the Elite is a machine of quality. I don't think that parts would present a problem at all, a lot of those were built and a lot of them are still on the road! If the scoot only has 600 miles on it, it is practically new as far as wear is concerned. All the rubber should be replaced I think, but for $750 I think you could put a few more bucks into it to bring it up to par and still be ahead with it over any of the ChiCom scoots of the same displacement. Just my opinion, and I wish you good luck with your choice!! ;D
