lizards going for a ride, haha...bearded dragons are cool! have happy thanksgivings, dawgs... ps - not much chance of animals catching rides with me, unless a moose climbs aboard!

Funny actually, a lizard did take a 3 mile ride on my Mongoose handlebars.... Until I got to the Xtreme trail anyways... lol
I have been trying to figure out if I need something special if I wanted to take my 40lb hound with me, or could i just let him sit on the floorboard?

Around 1989 or so I picked up a white 1974 Puch Maxi for about $300 I think. This is a pic from the web of a 1976 Puch Maxi that looks identical.

My first scooter! Had it from 2002 - 2005. Had some problems with the scooter, and complained to the manufacturer. They sent me another one, no charge! So then I had two of them! Fun times. It was a sequential dual belt drive scooter... Kinda weird. I wasn't big (about 13 years old and 90 pounds) and the bar that the shock connected to would always bend. Replaced that a lot. Oh and the belts would snap really easily. Used to stock up on them. Very, very cheaply made scooter. Got me around though. Oh and I could do some pretty wild wheelies with it. I also remember giving people rides. I would stand, they would sit. I remember giving my 6 foot 250lb friend a ride to the basketball courts a couple miles away. *Notice that the exhaust port faces forward? Remember how I said it was cheaply made? Well imagine what would happen eventually. I ruined many pairs of pants riding that scooter.

Sorry, I don't have a long rich history like some of you folks. I started out on midbikes around 2004 IIRC. Started modding my first one the day I got it though. Eventually the little 49cc would wheelie with my big butt on it. Swapped in a much larger engine later that made people afraid to gas it hard because it could turn itself over backwards. ;D 2nd little bike... My first scoot, purchased in early 2006. I still have it. Right now it's propped up waiting for me to build a big bore stroker motor. ;D

bestestever - is that the same scoot you have now?
90 - great pics! I like the stories of how we all got here. That second picture should be your CD cover lol

lol got the cover, now I just need the CD. I just noticed in scootacrossamerica's pic it says "Substantial 10" x 3" front wheel"... and 10" looks to be the OD of the wheel and tire, not just the wheel. Substantial is not the first word that comes to mind for me.

Thanks for starting this thread. I haven't thought about my old "blender on a broomstick" in probably a decade. A little digging revealed I had a pic of it, even. I bought this '78 qt-50 yamahopper "totally dead" from a friend of a friend for $100, cleaned the carb, flushed the tank, and rode nearly every day for about a year and a half. Finally, I had to give it up for a Honda Elite 250 so I could make the trip out to my folks' house, but cruising around town at 30mph was all the fun I needed to be hooked for life.

I would love to post my first ride/scoot. I never took any pictures of it and have not been able to find any on the net. If any of you could find a picture(s) of a 1946 Regal, I would be extremely grateful! It featured a 1.5HP Clinton on a sliding rack which served as the clutch. 30mph until the valves stuck and I replaced it with a 3hp B&S and a mechanic friend "geared it up". Then the top speed was 45mph. Single rear contracting band for a brake and a lawnmower throttle lever for go. No lights - none - hand signals were mandatory! This all happened in 1961 and 62. I have seen mentions of the Regal but never a picture. Keith Hoffman Goshen, IN
