Besides Scoot! magazine and ScooterWorld, are there any other monthly mags or bi-monthly mags out there just for scoots? I know sometimes one of the motorcycle mags will publish something about a scoot but I am looking for something just dedicated to scooters only.

Most of the FEW[/b] found here in the states showcase other peoples restored 50's-up vespas and 1of1 lambrettas. Far as everyday scooters and sport scooters, you just listed them all.

I have been thinking about creating a publication, maybe bi-monthly, or quarterly. The concept is nothing new, a publication designed for a niche audience. This might be better explained and discussed in its own forum. I am not new to publishing, we already publish targeted publications for certain auto enthusiasts. Much smaller markets than I would anticipate would be the case of Scooter Mag... These publications are NOT designed to be big profit makers, basically they pay for the costs of publishing more from the price of subscriptions more so than advertising revenue... I am open to going into this with any one that is interested in seeing something like the "ScootDawg Review" and the annual "ScootDawg Buyers Guide and Ripoff Report"... I could go on and on, right now I would be interested in knowing the level of SERIOUS interest folks might have in something along this line... A publication that has technical articles, product reviews on anything scooter or cycle oriented, dealer reviews, and articles submitted by readers as well as a number of 'old sages' contributing to the content. Benefits could be many, bulletin boards for events, for sale stuff, just about anything that would be of common interest. The MAIN benefit I see in this would be the REVIEWS done on actual scooters imported into the US. Dawg and others have already done some extremely good reviews, if a printed forum were available for anyone the bad of the entire scooter world would be subject to exposure, I can think of nothing else that would rapidly eliminate a lot of the shady dealers, repair shops, and importers that we all detest! At the same time, there would be huge incentives for the manufactures/importers to produce a better overall product and experience. Almost every vehicle there is has some place to shine light on the dark corners, we ChiCom folks could just that... and everyone should benefit... What say ye, pm me if you like or just give an opinion or interest level here, matters not to I... the moderator's might make this a new thread, whatever, all is good!

I'd buy it if there was one like what you mentioned, rerun. I like magazines and I saw an issue of wired that had an article on scooters but it left much to be desired. I was disapointed with the amount of reviewing done and the reviewers seemed inexperienced in the area, to me.

I get the 3 magazines (that I know of) about scooters. Most have some good/fun stuff in them but little technical info.
I would like to see something with technical information i.e. how to do a brake job, adjusting valves/carbs, replacing head bearings, etc.
I would definetely be onboard with a mag like that

You might also look at the Thunder Press concept that does use advertising revenue, but the publication is free at MC shops. Shops love it because it brings customers in, and for those who don't live near a dealer, they can subscribe. The advertising covers the cost and bulk shipping eliminates the need for most individual mailings. It's also printed on news print so the print cost is far lower than a magazine is. Just a thought. I'm interested in where you'd be getting content from? (mostly cause i think it'd be fun to be a contributor, so i'm wondering who would be writing articles and such for it)

Bunni, (et al)
Actually, I am very interested in what the scootering people would like to see in a magazine! Yes, I think that a specific section devoted to 'user stories' would make an excellent 'standard feature'.
What I have on an 'outline' are these:
Scooter Reviews, covering every type of scooter and every 'quality level', (would like to have these run in every issue if there are scooters available to review) these I think would best be put together by folks like the moderators here, experienced and knowledgeable. Every review I have read on this forum, by ADC or Dawg have been extremely well done and thorough. If possible, I would also like to have these reviews have 'secondary comments' from some owners, or others that have had the opportunity to ride the scooter under evaluation. This is one of the areas that I feel can really impact the quality of what comes to us in the market place.
Comparison articles, for scooters and the vast array of other products of interest to the two wheel public. Windshields, security systems, apparel, helmets, luggage and on and on.
Technical articles, this is a biggie as far as I am concerned, I would like the publication to have at least one article in every issue addressing repair and maintenance issues. Ideally the magazine would be one people would keep because of the value of these articles.
User comments; a valuable place where consumers can praise and complain about good and bad service, dealers, events and almost anything of general interest to the readers. Naturally this area would require diligent editing because of possible liable issues, and overall length and quality of submitted material. Here again would be a place to aid in getting the good and bad exposed, leading to improvements in every area.
These are additional areas I believe a periodical could offer: Consumer tips. Letters to the Editor. Events Calendar. Contributed material from dealers, manufacturers, importers, and others of note in the scooter world. Buy and sell exchange/classifieds.
Additional thoughts and suggestions are more than welcomed, don't hesitate to speak out!
