I wanted a 250cc scoot to be able to keep up on the highway, but couldn't afford a People 250 or even better the Honda SH300i. Didn't really care for the bulky Maxi Scoots so the Race 250 was the only option at the time.
Hey who knows I work for a Honda Dealer now (well we are going to start selling bikes early next year) might just get the SH300i yet.

125cc
2007 Kymco People S125. First scoot, first powered two-wheeler in 10 years. $2650.00 OTD seemed like a good deal. It can easily cruise at 55mph so nobody is running me down on 45mph roads. I needed a reliable machine being mechanically challenged. Yeh I can change the oil and such, but if I start monkeying with the innards things generally start crumbling, therefore reliability was an important factor for me. I'm just about to turn 2000 miles since I bought it in June of this year and so far it's living up to its reputation as a reliable scoot. I'm beginning to wonder about my dealer however. I ordered an air filter 3 months ago and am still waiting. Hopefully it will arrive before I take it out of storage in the spring. I see people out there playing golf in 35 degree weather but my old bones can't hack that for riding. Hurry Spring!

Please choose your motor size and a post a brief discription as to why you picked your scooter over the rest. Thank you 50cc. i didn't have a choice. i seen the guy wheeling the scoot out to the front yard and put a for sale sign on it. i asked if i could "test drive" it. actually all i wanted was to go see my dad. instead of seeing my dad i rode that thing all over town. i finally wound up at the bank where i withdrew the $350 the guy wanted for it. 2 hours after i asked for the test drive i got back to the owner, he was getting nervous that i might have abscounded with his scoot. anyway i gave him the money, he gave me the title. i love my chinese scoot. GO CHINA !

150/155cc, which who knows exactly what Strada/Yamati did to get the extra CC's... I hear it's a big bore.... I bought a rx200hp because it was a "high performance" scoot from the factory. Additionally, it was priced less than most other scoots in the same class. More bang for the buck, and the "faux fiber" look was appealing. It's quick off the line, and has enough top speed for MOST of the situations I'm driving in.
Best part? It's a great hobby! Buying parts for this are most certainly cheaper by alot than if I was going to upgrade my Dodge Dakota! When you can get a variator, race fan, roller weights, chrome carb intake and new mirrors for under 200 bucks, life is good. I'm enjoying keeping this baby looking and running sweet.
Loudest143 06 Strada RX200HP Red and grey. Ohio State colors? Big suprise.

I went from a 150cc to the 250 Helix, because I go on a lot of rides on State and Federal 2 lane Hiways, with speed limits of 55 and 60 MPH. I can run at those speeds with the 250 without running flat out, or nearly so, as I was with the 150 Strada I owned. I was apprehensive about getting far from home with it, just in case it self destructed at those speeds. No such fears with the Helix, and I can do short hops on the interstate, if necessary, with the 74 mph top speed of the 250.

I started with a 50cc about 4 years ago, just to have something to run around on. Now I find it to be too slow for me so this spring I intend to buy a scoot with 150cc.

Hmmmmm. I'm logged in, but the poll seems to be unavailable. Oh, well. When I converted from a 650cc cycle to a scoot, I went with the 400cc Burger, because I feared losing performance going any smaller, and didnt want to haul around the extra 100+lbs of the 650cc Burger.
Knowing what I know, now, I would have been perfectly happy with a 250cc. Most of my miles are on 2-lane county roads. I do almost no freeway riding. The 400cc Burger can be stretched to do occasional freeway work, but the 650cc would be a lot better.
I also have a GY6 150cc. For 'round-town work, it beats the 400cc Burger.
Thus, if I had just x1 machine, a 250cc would be super for county roads, "stretchable" to occasional freeway work, and better than the 400cc for in-town riding.

I went 50cc for a few reasons; 1) Don't need a special license or motorcycle endorsement 2) Don't need insurance 3) I can drive in the bike/bus lanes in my town (huge advantage in busy summer months) 4) Tweaking a 50cc for all it's worth is just fun 5) I wanted a 2-stroke engine

too bad you can only vote once - I have a 50 cc derbi atlantis tricked out with a leo vince pipe, a mallosi 70 cc upgrade kit, (carb, kevlar belt etc) and a holley nitrous kit and pirelli racing slicks. Her name is blue. and stella - she is stock, red and so much fun to ride. I want the MP3 500cc I usually have something else in the garage for review - or Id have too many!

The 150cc is my favorite. It stradles the balance between the 50 & the 250 and higher. I really like riding the Kymco 250 but when it's time to park in a tight spot it's too big. The 50cc has a place all it's own if you don't have to worry so much about speed. Almost like riding a bicycle and don't want to worry so much about licensing issues. My vote is for 150 but I appreciate the other sizes.

Hi:
I voted for the 250. I bought It because in 2006 I took a 80mile trip from Cleveland to Carrollton, OH. Even though i got 83 mpg with the 150 I could only go about max of 52mph. Well i added a windshield and upgraded the coil to the Highouput coil. It increased my speed to 55 mph. I decided I wanted a 250 for long trips for higher speed. And I got it for 1050 on Ebay from a lady in Erie, PA. It was quite a steal for such a low price. Iuse the 150 for around town highest mileage. Got to get those oil creaps somehow. The only other way to get them is buy some of there stock.

I had a 250cc Kymco XC-250. I started out with a 150cc GY6 bike that was okay. I found that the 150cc just didn't have what it took to run with traffic. I never even came close to the top end on the 250cc. Money issues took the 250cc away from me. If I find myself comuting with in city limits and on regular city streets I'd give the 150cc another look. Probably a Pegasus would be my next try.

I had 2 150cc bikes. My 1st 150cc was a yellow Tank Eurosport. It came to my door 2 days after I lost my license. So instead of returning the bike or going through the hassle of selling it and getting another one, I changed the decals and made it identical to the UM Xpeed-50. Just like my avatar. I went through multiple DWI checkpoints without so much as a 2nd glance and rode it everywhere for 2yrs.

Roketa Bali 250:
Perfect for my 18 mile (one way) commute on back streets. I do have to take an access road around the DFW Airport which has a posted speed of 45 (which means 60 to Texans). I can keep up with traffic no-prob with the 250 and it climbs the hills on the backroads with ease. Max speed so far is ~65 or 70 MPH, not GPS confirmed, just estimated. Get 60 mpg.

I had only one criteria in getting a scooter: economy. Something in the neighborhood of 65 mpg sounded awfully good to me, with gas prices now over three bucks a gallon. My little 150cc "Eagle 150" (with a name like that, ya just know it's Chinese) is slow, but sure is pretty. For bigger 'n' faster, I'll finish the BMW R90 and the Honda 750 Shadow chopper.

After riding a big twin, a 150 would be slower than a snail! LOL
