Went for a bit of an afternoon ride....just 180 miles round trip.. This is Sunrise Point...elevation 6100 Feet.. Rainer still looks huge from this altitude Somewhat better view A mountain lake at Sunrise Point Some other mountains The peak from Sunrise, elevation 6,400 feet. Yep...still got a bit of snow at 6,400 feet. Better view Ranger station at Sunrise Mountain Meadow at Sunrise

The pictures were taken Tuesday. The road to Sunrise only opened up on July 4th, will close again on labor day.

Jim63, I recommend doing this.. www.visitrainier.com/index.php?&gigpag=circle_rainierwhen Steven's Canyon opens up. 147 miles circling the mountain...then figure an extra 30 miles for a side trip to Sunrise and another 10 miles for a sidetrip to Cayuse Pass. Packwood would probably be a good 'halfway' point. Gotta figure 3 hours anyway from Sedro Wooley to Enunclaw.
