Looks like a nice ride.
Find a shop where you can try helmets on, each company fits differently and comfort is critical; you won't wear a helmet that isn't comfortable all the time.

I had just read a huge artical online about buying a helmet. I guess it should be snug on my whole head (full face helmet) including my cheeks and jaw. It should also not wobble at all and should not be able to be rolled off of my head when its attached. I also want to get one with swappable lenses because i ride at night a lot. At night, i wear the helmet i have now but it really hurts my head because its so small.

It's more a case of it not being loose than being snug. The helmet shouldn't be exerting any pressure on you head but should fit well enough that when you shake your head it doesn't flop around loose.
It's Ok for it to require some pressure to pull it on your head, but once it's on, there should be no pressure on your head face or cheeks.
Get one with a flip up lens because if it gets fogged up you will need to be able to flip it out of the way. Sometimes you want the extra ventilation too.

ah good idea! I never even thought of a flip up lense. does anyone else have any ideas on what i should look for? I am hoping to spend in the low 100's at the absolute most. I don't need any designs on it.

I use a 1/2 helmet in the summer time. You lose some head protection versus a full or 3/4 helmet, with it I wear shatterproof sunglasses and for at night I have clear lenses for the glasses. A 1/2 helmet won't pinch your head. But we also have large windscreens that keep most bugs and debris from hitting our heads in the first place. The 1/2 Helmet was around $75, you can buy face shields for it it you want for an additional $15 or so. My modular helmet (full head covering) has a built in sun visor that flips down when you need it, inside the clear face shield was close to $400 but the protection is the best.

I am hoping to find something reasonable and my birthday is coming up. I asked my parents to buy me a nice one instead of getting a ton of money. I hope to go this weekend to try them out.

Nice route...used to ride that route on a bicycle to the mall back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Lived up the hill from Mosers Dairy.
