Does anyone have any information/feedback on the Lance line of scooters? Looking at them and Hyosung. A friend said Strada 150cc would be the way the go. The local dealer said TGB 49cc 2 stoke. I am new to scooters but would like to buy one very soon. Thanks

I own the Lance Vintage 150cc, and I love it. I have owned it for about 4months and I should be close to 2000mls at the end of year.
The company who makes the bike in china is Zhongneng (Znen) They are mainly manufacturers of automobiles, as well as motorcycles, and scooters They are one of the better companies in china for a cheap reliable bike.
The U.S. company Scootersfactory is a good reliable company that has had good results with customer satisfaction.
There are manny threads on this company and Lance bikes on this forum, just do a little research, and you will find plenty of info to help you make up your mind.

We are happy owners of two Lances, a GSR 150 and a Duke 250. Our experience with Znen and Scooters Factory has been positive. We love the bikes. There's a lot of posting here on Lance and Znen as well as S/F for you to look at in your research. Best wishes, Tom

Thanks for the posts, I was leaning toward the GSR 150 but the B&M dealer in Greensboro was very negative on Lance. He was pushing Hyosung which I can understand as it's a line that he stocks.

I have to confess,
I wouldn't put Lance or any other china bike up there with Hyosung they are much better in quality, warranty ect. They have awsome motorcycles too. I really like the 250cc comet bike they have, it is knarly. If you are going B&M I would personally go with Hyosung.

Gotta say, a mainline bike beats a cheap China import, even the Znen line. Tom

I'm looking at either the TNG 250cc, or Lance 250. Better warranty with the TNG, yet better price, and features with the Lance. Lemme know what ya think? Robear "Riding For The Son" CMA #106585

Bear: Still very happy with my Lance Duke 250. Sorry for winter to come here in NE Ohio as I was riding it every day that I could. No major problems and it is a smooth nice ride. Good handling. Lots of power. Mileage up around 60-65 mpg highway (country). S/F will actually do repairs if you can get the bike to them, otherwise it is a parts only warranty. My experience on warranty and parts has been positive. The guys at S/F really try to help you out, they have for me cause I am so far away. Got the bike in late July on sale for 1999.00. Shipped timely and as promissed. Arrived delivered to the door on time and in good shape. Have only had two minor problems---cosmetic on the trunk--they replaced on warranty. The other was some problem with the aim and adjustment of the mirrors (common on the Duke). My mechanic redid the mounts and they are fine now. I am not real familiar with TNG. I am sure you'll do an apples to apples comparison. The Lance line is made by Znen, which is a repuatble factory group in the cheap China imports market, and their lines have good reviews here and other places. Good luck and God bless. Tom

I have a Lance GS-R and love it. It is now out for repairs, but ScootersFactory is taking care of it for me, which is great. If you are considering Hyosung vs Lance, Hyosung would win hands down in my oppinion, but the Lance is good as Cheap Chinascoots go.

I'm gonna pop this back up to ask a question. Once the insurance hassles are done with, assuming my scooter is not recovered, I will be buying a replacement. Does anyone know how the lance 150's compare to TNG's line of 150's? I loved my TNG milano but I don't know if I'll be able to find it again for the price I got it, so I'm considering ordering a Lance.
Is there a high instance of damage the shipping from Scootersfactory? I know a lot of people have ordered from there and I want to know that I'm not gonna have to do a ton of repair over shipping issues. I don't think there's a Lance dealer around here.

I have a Lance Vintage and really like it. I have owned it for a couple of months now and have about 300 miles on it. I only work a couple of miles from home so I don't rack up milage quickly. So far so good though. As far as shipment from scootersfactory, I thought it was well packaged and protected and arrived looking good. I did have a broken headlight bracket (cracked weld) when it arrived but I don't think it was from shipping. Scootersfactory sent me out a new headlight assembly right away. I think that they are a good company to deal with. Good luck with your scoot purchase. John

Hell, I just give up! Go buy a Sunl, they look good, and they're cheap! You are screwed,no matter what, just because you got it in your head that you can't grasp basic mechanics!

Hi bunnie,
The Lance Milano has 12inch wheels with 1yr warranty with luggage box. It is a little more money than the motofino that swamp directs too. I can only tell you what I know from scootersfactory. Good luck.

Swampsniffer.
Why get so irrate just because she asked a simple question? You help people so much with such good advise, but not everybody is mechanicaly inclined , and some people just don't have no interest to try to start, but it doesn't mean they don't have feelings or want to learn more information about the scooters that give them so much joy. Remember what makes this site so specail compared to alot (if not all) the other scoots sites. It's the fun of sharing good advise and wisdom too all the folks who are willing to take the time and listen.

To my knowledge Znen makes Lance, Bandit and Fly. Didn't know about the TNGs. For Cheap China's, Lance is very good. S/F has a good rep on shipping and warranty claims for damages. They ship by a very old and reliable trucking co., Old Dominion. Tom

Hey there Swampy, are you off your meds? ;D That doesn't sound like you...
Anyway, Lance is pretty good as they go, I have only had one major issue with mine and ScooterFactory took care of it for me. I am currently pushing 3,000 miles on mine, and I think it is a great bike. Also, no damage from shipping, but I picked it up, so that doesn't help any ;D but I haven't heard of anything broken on arival except the headlight bracked that Tinknocker had. They seem like an honest company that actually tries to help their customers, what a strange idea, lol.

Dude, you don't have to be a jerk just cause I prefer to have a mechanic on hand that can do the warrantee repairs. TNG wont let you do anything to that scooter, even basic maintenance, or you void their warantee...and I'm sorry, I like to keep my warrantee. I know what exactly I want and how to take care of it in a way that suits ME. Just because it doesn't suit YOU doesn't mean you have a right to insult me every time I make mention of my preference for a professional. Thank you guyruss, for comming to my defense. My TNG's make listed on the title is twis. I always saw "znen" listed on other bikes made by them on the title. I'd never seen twis before, but I was happy with the Milano for as long as I had it, and would like to get something that I am similarly happy with. I've seen good things about the Lance but I really am mostly concerned about whether or not it ships with minimal damage. Having to replace things because of shipping would piss me off to no end. If I'm gonna be doing repairs on a new scoot, it'd better be something _I_ screwed up.

I believe Scooters Factory ships well and have read little of shipping damage to their Lance line. Ours arrived packed well in a strapped and wired metal frame inside a crate on a pallet that was totally shrink wrapped. Those who have had minor damage have reported good response from S/F. It looks like the TnG line is Znen as well from the comments here. get a bike you love Bunnii and one that you are comfortable with. Tom

hi bunnii-i have a lance vintage. i got it around the end of oct with no damage only mine didn't have shrink wrap. the trunk doesn't lock that's the only gripe i have, however it's not something that i'm concerned about. i have about 100 miles so far with mechanical issues but there are some things that i need to change. the handle grips are hard plastic and even harder to grip in cold weather. i have a question-do any of you folks with a vintage have wind shields? and does anyone have the kind that slope over the handle grip area? thought this might help somewhat in this northern ohio weather. thanks everyone for posting. i'm picking up lots of hints.

2wheels: you mean to say 100 miles with no mechanical issues? Cause if it already has mechanical issues...i assume you mean no mechanical issues but I wanted to check.
If I can't find another milano for the price I got my last one, I think I will probably get the Lance Venice. It seems like shipping damage is only an occasional thing.

I haven't seen a windshield for the Vintage style yet. I'm not big on the grips either. I think I will change them to black foam style this winter. I saw a set somewhere just like the stock ones, just with foam inserts instead of the black plastic. They were about $40 though. I will have to hunt them up again.

sorry bunnii, NO mechanical issues. however the weather here has put a hold on scootin' at about 101 miles on the odometer. put stable in the gas tank and have gone out and started it twice. btw, i would appreciate if someone could tell me if the lance vintage is gy6 style engine or considered a honda clone. thanks

Well, the Vintage is a GY6 engine, which is a Honda clone. The Vintage is a clone of the old Honda Joker scooter that was a 90cc 2 stroke.

If it were a clone the parts would all be interchangeable, you could swap body parts as well as motor parts. You might be able to use some honda parts in the motor, but they would not be the 2 stroke motor parts. It may be possible to swap out body panels though.

thanks aj- the reason i thought they were separate is i took an on line survey and they asked what type of engine and they listed the two as different. used to do simple stuff on my old cars years ago, thermostat, oil change and the like and figured i'ld start learning about these things next.

2wheels and others that might be interested, I believe that just about all the windshields/screens that will fit the Vespas will also fit on he retro style scooters. There are quite a few available that do cover the grip area, and naturally are more expensive than others. I think you could find many sources just using the search on this site for windshields. I purchased a SlipStream Model 50 for my scoot, and am very pleased with the changes it affords, much improved as to staying warm and reduces the wind noise considerably...
