Does it matter what type of material you make the base gasket out of? Like a parts magazine that has a slick cardboard finish. Anything I should not use?

I don't think I'd just use cardboard. Local auto parts stores should sell sheets of gasket material that are resistant to heat, oil, gas, etc...

I went to a couple places. The thinnest i found was 1/32. To thick trying to lower squish. I may try it any way. A pain in the rear to cut out. If it does not work I know where to get shim material.

You can use silicone RTV in place of a gasket for your purposes. I would suggest mocking up the piston/cylinder with no gasket to be sure the piston clears all ports at BDC first.

The side transfer are good. The exhaust looks like the piston needs a go down a mm. With stock base gasket it still needs more. Not sure what they are called, but the intake tranfers on top are about the same as exhaust. The MRP cly kit I bought the rod bearing will not fit into the rod. But the 12mm pin fits in it. Iam going to use the old bearing it works.

Obviously the piston isn't going to move down any past BDC so you need to move the cylinder up with a thicker base gasket or an extra base gasket. Once you get it so that the piston sits level with or lower than the exhaust port at BDC, then you'll be better off to modify the head or head gasket to get the squish clearance you're looking for.
It sounds like you bought a 12mm kit and you have a 10mm engine. You'll need to return/exchange that kit or pick up at 12mm piston kit.

No the scoot has a 12mm pin. The kit has a 12mm pin. Just the rod bearing with the is not right. I have Inside-outside mic. Its mertic its been since 76 in school since read one (not 1776) But the kit bearing outer shell (out side edges ) are larger than the bearing surface. I havent check the BDC with the stock stuff yet.

Useing the stock base gasket the BDC looks good. I switch heads to a Airsal head squish is better.055mm vs. MRP head .095mm no head gasket. The new ulum head gaskets .048mm the used old copper gasket is .029mm Has any one opened a 40mm copper head gasket to a 48mm? That would give me about 84mm squish.

I've never bored a 40mm gasket to 48mm, but as long as you make sure it clears the cylinder it should be fine.
