Has anyone ever taken on the famous "Tail of the Dragon" road on a scooter ? www.tailofthedragon.com/318 turns in 11 miles. I've ridden some really twisty roads, but not like this. I've also driven it in a cager 2x before - as it was the shorter way home. I take local rides with my neighbor (Harley Driver) while I'm on my scooter. He's never in a hurry, and neither am I. The weather here right now is 18 degrees, but it's suppose to be warm (70+) and sunny Saturday. He wants to ride the tail - and I'm thinking why not ? To get there from where I'm at in South Carolina will be a 8-9 hour round trip ride. We stay off the interstates. Just curious if anyone else has taken a scooter on this road. Oh, it will just be me on the scooter - no passenger. ~IFLY~

I haven't but my brother rode it on his Ducati, this would be a good time to change the tires if you haven't already.

That was my pre-snow project. I took off the junk chino tires and put on a set of Michelin Sport pilots. I have about 500 miles on the Michelin's, so they should be pretty well scuffed up for the curves.

Did it on my SV650. A scooter would be great on this road. You could easily stay ahead of cars, but watch your mirrors for other bikes. Once you get started it seems the turns never end. Best thing to do is ride within your means. People have gotten hurt or worse on this road. Hence the police that patrol and the new Helli pad at the start of it all.
