This has nothing to do with Clint Eastwood, but about is about the rides my wife and I take when the weather cooperates. We like to cruise to the area casinos, there are 7 within a 40 mile radious from our home in Sedro-Woolley WA.
Today the weather forecast was at 50%+ rain but we decided to take a chance, Usually if it a 50% chance of rain it will be 100% if we ride and 0% if we take the car or truck. We decided to hit the Angel of the Winds in Snohomish county, a 30 mile drive south from our home, then hit another on the way back near Anacortes WA.
Our route took us down highway 9, a very popular biker route, that is scenic and fun to ride. We pass the lakefront towns of Big Lake and Lake McMurrey, both small but nice towns. Highway 9 is a 2 lane road that parallels I-5 approximately 5 miles east of it. Travelling through farm land and forest type terrain, it is a pleasant ride. Speeds are 50mph when not in towns or in turns which there are many. Even cross a one lane bridge at one point, yes this road is old.
We got to Angel of the Winds nice and dry, even with the dark clouds overhead. After 2 hours of gambling at the slots, we escaped with all our cash except for the two 99cent lunch specials we had. If you go the Salmon and chips is very good, 2 pieces of deep fried salmon with fries not bad for less than a buck, sodas are free.
After this we headed west crossed over I-5 at exit 210 and continued west to the Pioneer Highway. We headed north passing through the towns of Stanwood and Conway. Saw several eagles in the trees along the way (sorry didnt stop to get pics), like seeing a big dog up in a tree they are huge birds.
At Conway we headed west toward the town of La Conner, a rustic town filled with antique shops, specialty stores and some very good restaurants and bars along the waterfront. It was beginning to rain and I was thinking along with my wife that we should probably head for home at this point. So in La Conner we headed home, weather is a bummer at times but riding in 45 degree weather wet is not a good time. So before we got totally soaked we made it home, about 20 minutes later. We logged over 65 miles and was fun, we both enjoy riding alot. Maybe next weekend we can head north to the casinos near Bellingham. Casino hopping is fun, and we get to ride alot in the process. Just have to watch my beer intake on rides, wife keeps me in-line in that dept. Today I took the 250B, was in hibernation last month or so, wife was on her SYM. Wife was nice to me, that SYM would leave me in the dust on the 250B. My wife can be seen getting her gear on, she has the color coordination going on, red bike, red helmet.
