90 I was reading- MRP Power Pack. I bought the same cyl. MP-09464-1 and was wondering how you rate it. What did you set the squish at? What spark plug did you use?

I was very happy with the MRP cylinder. There are a lot of cylinder kits out there that would make more power but the MRP kit was extremely reliable for me. I used my stock carb, stock jets, stock airbox, stock intake, and stock reeds with an MRP 1500 RPM torque spring, 4g rollers, and MRP 2000 RPM clutch springs along with an MRP pipe. At 285 pounds, I could cruise at 50+MPH aside from when there was a good headwind. I rode for 100+ miles in a day on a few occasions and screamed the engine to cruise 50 or above a good bit of the time and never really had any issues with it. Acceleration was way better than stock. I definitely didn't have to put my feet down and push off in town to avoid being ran over when leaving traffic lights anymore lol. I believe I put 3,000 miles or so on the MRP kit and never really had any problems related to the cylinder kit.
I never did check the squish on that setup. Wish I did, just for reference. I'm sure it was 1mm+. I just installed everything as normal (MRP supplied base gasket, cylinder, MRP supplied head gasket, head) most of the time. I did skip the head gasket before with it on one (maybe two) occasions toward the end of it life (I killed it by dropping it in the floor). It made better power, but it would die after WOT for a bit. Of course I was trying AMSOil's 100:1 premix oil at 80:1 at the time too. I think that was my problem, not the reduced squish clearance.
I used NGK BR8HS and BR8HIX spark plugs. I prefer the BR8HIX (iridium) plugs for better cold starting. I used the BR8HS for tuning if necessary. I always have better luck with a good plug reading using a brand new spark pug, or at least I trust the results more. You can use the HIX or plug readings too... but they cost about $8 compared to around $2 for the HS.

Yeah, most people think bigger engine = bigger jets but it's not always the case. If you are using the same carburetor and air filter the larger displacement engine will often use the same jet or a smaller one. The larger piston travelling down a larger cylinder actually creates more vacuum which draws more fuel through the carburetor.
