Yesterday morning at 8:30 am I packed three water bottles, a banana and an apple in the trunk on my scooter.I got my winter jacket, winter gloves, and put on my full face helmet. I put my wallet into my fanny pack along with my 380 caliber semi-auto pistol. The temp outside was 60 degrees. I rode down to the local Speedy Stop and filled my tank with $2 of gas. I started the scoot up and we headed south to FM1781, In Texas these roads are called Farm to Market roads. Ten miles later I turned onto FM188 and rode that to FM136 which turned to the north and found I had ridden 25 miles and it seemed the time just flew by. I drank some water and let the scoot cool down for ten minutes. So far all this riding seemed to be out in the country with very few building seen along the way. I started on my way again and I seemed to find that cruising at 45 mph was a very nice speed to stay at, once in a while I found myself going at 50 -55 mph so I had to back off a bit. I went past the town of Bayside, The water tower said Bayside on it, That's how I knew. I went past Bayside straight to FM2678 to the end and stopped for a break. I walked around for ten minutes to loosen up and feel more relaxed. I had gone anothe 25 miles. I started up and headed west on FM774 which would be 20 miles to Highway 35. That was an intertesting ride I saw a large herd of cattle, about 100 head, and a herd of 20 goats or so out in a field. Mexicans love to eat goat when it is cooked right, and the skin makes very comfortable shoes among other things. All the vehicles I saw was one that passed me and three that were headed in the opposite direction. At highway 35 I stopped and ate my snack, drank another bottle of water and walked some more. This was in a good sized parking lot still out in the country. The worst part of the ride was going across Copano Bridge, at least a mile long across Copano Bay, the wind was blowing fairly briskly from my right side and seeming to want to push me over each time a gust of wind blew. It seemed forever but I made it across safely. I turned right onto FM1781 after I got off the bridge. When I made it home I had ridden 89 miles in 3 hours including three stops along the way. I will do another ride soon, I did enjoy it all except for the scary part over the bridge. The sun was shining for the whole ride.
